Eh? Measure the rooms??? I have rented a lot of properties all over the country (like everywhere from South East to South West, to Midlands and even Scotland) & I have never had my rooms measured?! Confused

Nope, no cctv on shop but some round corner so they might get car driving away. Front is a bit of a write off and they've got away with over £10k worth of stock! But all insured and can be made good again....been busy making tea and bacon sarnies for people. Shattered now as didn't get to bed until gone midnight in the first place and waking up in full on fight or flight mode was not very nice....bastards!!! Angry

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/05/2017 14:16

Sorry I've not been on ladies, I'm having the day from hell - although seeing Sassy's post has put it into perspective entirely. Hope you're okay, how horrible for you Flowers.

EBDB - I have been a landlord for over 10 years and I can honestly say not once have I ever been back to measure the walls!!! I can't think of a single reason why on earth they're doing it! What's their reasoning (and they do have to explain if they want access to the property).

I'm off to try and wind down a bit from the stresses of this morning, I'll come on and tell you all about it later, it's probably funny in the re-telling but I've been pretty stressed out! However I know I'll laugh about it once I've calmed down. Grin

Hope you're ok Malcolm? Yep really is day from hell. On my knees exhausted now and doing odd things....just found I had put the opened pack of pitta bread in the where I keep plastic bags and polish and stuff Confused Was v scary this morn. Woke up and immediately tried to work out whether to try and get DD and I out, or locked in bathroom cos I honestly thought it was us being broken into Shock Good job it wasn't as took police 40 mins to turn up...we'd have been toast by that time! Had CSI people call me etc. Might have to give formal statement depending on outcome....eek! So so so tired but am already worrying about getting to sleep later. Very much a downside of being single! Sad

And to top it off didn't get my bridal updo...gutted...prob closest am ever gonna get Hmm

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 02/05/2017 19:49

Malcolm their reasoning was "just to take a look". Hmm

Picked DS2 up, went to the park, picked DD up, back home, had vintage Cheddar macaroni cheese for supper, putting DS2 to bed, DD will go straight after. GrinGin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/05/2017 23:26

Oh Sassy, poor you. If it's any comfort, I suspect that had it been your house being broken into, with you inside, the police would have been there an awful lot sooner than 40 mins! Small comfort, I'm sure. Perhaps you could get their advice on what to do should the worst ever happen? A Community Support Officer should be available to help with that sort of thing, I would've thought.

EDBD - fair enough for them to come and have a look, I usually do it once or twice a year - but what I don't get is why on earth they aren't upfront about it and just say we want to inspect the property, instead of all the guff about measuring the walls! 😂 Oh well.

So...my day. Prepare yourselves, it's going to be a LONG one and I apologise now for the length of this post!

The good bit was that DS2 slept through. However, I got woken up at 5am by DD1 saying she had an upset tummy. I kind of said oh no, how awful and then both of us went back to bed. She then said she wasn't feeling well and didn't want to go to school - I must admit, I thought she was trying to pull the wool over my eyes, so I told her she was just going to have to go in and see how she went. This was met with an absolutely hideous tantrum, to the point where she refused to go into school, so I said fine, I'll just ring your headteacher and you can explain it to her. All the while I was trying to get both babies up, dressed and fed.

Then the phone rang and it was DH asking me to check on the drive to see if there was a yellow cap anywhere. He'd topped up his engine coolant yesterday and had forgotten to put it back on and only realised when steam started coming from under his bonnet this morning! 😱 No sign of the cap, I got all children into the car and off we went to school.

At around 12, just as I was starting to get lunch ready for the two babies, I got a phone call from DD1's school, asking me to come and collect her as she'd had two more episodes of an upset tummy. So back we went in the car and I noticed a yellow cap on the crossroads in the forest next to our village! I managed to stop safely and get it, then went to collect DD1. When I got there, the school nurse was telling me that DD1 has to stay home for 48 hours from the last upset tummy, so she can't go to school until Friday!!! 😱😡😱 Then my phone rang - it was DD2's school saying that DD2 was refusing to eat her lunch and was there any chance I could bring a packed lunch in?! I said no, I was picking up my eldest daughter who was poorly and please could they tell DD2 from me not to be so fussy and to eat what she's given and if she doesn't, she can go hungry! Luckily the lady agreed that she would have said the same thing to her children!

I got back home and went to give the babies their lunch, by which time it was over an hour late. After I fed DS2, I popped through to DD3 (there are internal French doors between our dining room and family room) to check on her. She'd bloody well managed to somehow grab the bowl of chocolate that was in the middle of the table, find a Creme Egg, unwrap it and eat the whole thing! She was so pleased with herself "Mummy, YUM!" she said with a huge smile on her face when she saw me. But oh, the mess!

I put DS2 in for his nap and went to sort her out. To my horror, there was no sign of the foil wrapper which had been on her plate! I panicked, convinced she'd eaten it and was on the verge of dialling NHS Direct when my friend, who I'd texted in panic, suggested I check the bin in case I'd inadvertently cleared it up. I went through my entire bin - nothing. And it stunk! Then suddenly I thought to check the recycling - and there it bloody well was, right on the top!!! 😡

The day didn't get much better, DS2 did a hideous poo which went everywhere, meaning that he had to be put through the shower right when I should have been doing dinner. DD1 was hideously grumpy because I took away her electronics after her behaviour this morning - which put DH in a bad mood because he spent about an hour dealing with her, meaning that he then got grumpy with me.

So I'm off to bed, hoping for a better day tomorrow! Oh, and DH's car is still not right, so it's going to have to go into the garage tomorrow, meaning that he'll have to take my car to work instead so I can't do any of the things I had planned for tomorrow. Grrrrrrr!

Anyway, hope you both sleep well! See you tomorrow!

Morning! Drinking coffee and watching BBC world news. GrinBrew

Malcolm the men who came did count and measure the rooms though. Confused

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 03/05/2017 10:10

I had a cheese and mushroom omelette today. Grin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 03/05/2017 10:34

Morning!

DS2 woke up around 4am but did go back to sleep after a dose of Calpol. He's been chewing on his fingers right to the back and side of his mouth, so I think there's more coming through there.

I didn't really go back to sleep properly so feel a bit tired today!

Just about to have a nice Brew!

EDBD - I love a nice omelette!

Hope everyone's day is going well.

Morning. Long day at work for me today. Shattered as on edge last night and didn't sleep all that well....bleurgh! Yep, might ask the question Malcolm, good idea 😊

Your day sounds challenging to say the least yesterday Malcolm but some of it did make me smile, in a, haha, it sounds very much like my crazy life kinda way! Hope DD1 feeling better today and is being a bit more reasonable. I have had 3 mugs of tea so far this morning and still struggling....soooo tired! Really hope your day is more straightforward today and, erm, less poo-filled!!! ShockGrin

In other news, my unsunglasses sunglasses have been replaced and I can pick them up on Friday. Whoop whoop! Smile

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 03/05/2017 13:15

Bring on the sunshine, Sassy!!! You know it's going to rain all summer now, don't you?!

Sorry you're feeling so tired. I don't know what's the matter with us all at the moment! Who'd have thought a decent bit of sleep would be so hard to come by?!

DD1 is trying hard to act like nothing happened. She is clearly completely well, which is why it's even more annoying that she has to stay home. I must say, I think 48 hours is a bit much for a policy! DD2's school is 24hrs, which seems more reasonable. Oh well, it is what it is!

I'm just dealing with two ratbaggy, overtired children - DD3 is finishing off her lunch and DS2 is currently half-asleep on me while he finishes his bottle. Then it's nap time!!! 🎊🎉🎊🎉😳🎉👏🏻

Is it bad that this, and after they've both gone to bed, is my favourite time of the day?! 😂

Picked DD up, back home, she had a prawn mayo sandwich for supper, putting DS2 to bed now, DD will go straight after. GrinGin

SassynSane · 03/05/2017 21:20

Malcolm knowing how my life works out I have no doubt that come 4pm when I pick up my new glasses, the heavens will open until October!!! Grin I am borrowing one of DDs oversized stuffed toys tonight (pink unicorn...don't laugh...well too much anyway), so I have something to curl up to in the hope it relaxes me enough to stop being jumpy and get some sleep!

48 hr rule here too...which can be an absolute pain I agree! Haha...nope neither of you are bad for finding bedtime/schooltime fave parts of your day Wink

Long old day at work today and same tomorrow....roll on Friday...even though my sunglasses means there's a monsoon on the way! Grin

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 03/05/2017 21:30

Put washing on radiators having washed it after the DC were in their pyjamas, made DD's snack for football tomorrow, I'm in bed now. Grin

SassynSane · 03/05/2017 21:40

Am not going to be far behind you EDBD...with my pink unicorn Grin How's ED'sLad doing now? Any more news re his op?

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 04/05/2017 05:31

Morning! Drinking coffee and watching BBC world news. GrinBrew

No news re his op Sassy, last I heard he wasn't too bad. Smile

SassynSane · 04/05/2017 06:52

Morning Brew

Well that's something at least, glad he's in a (relatively) ok place right now. Do keep us posted if you want to though EDBD, am rooting for him so much and really hoping for some positive news!

Well slept with my arms round a cuddly toy last night ConfusedBlush Am still horribly tired but it did help a bit. Still had disturbed sleep and not enough of it. Today is going to be hard. Am off for a wax in my lunch hour, wonder if I will be the first ever client to snore through a wax? Grin Hope you both have a good day x

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 04/05/2017 13:14

Aaarrrgggghhhhh!!!!

Turns out DH's car has blown a head gasket which is going to cost loads to fix and we won't get it back until the middle of next week. Trying to work out a rota of him taking my car to work and then working on the days I need it to do the school run for DD1.

Am so pissed off.

SassynSane · 04/05/2017 14:15

Rubbish Malcolm!

SassynSane · 05/05/2017 16:48

Happy Friday! Hope you're both ok? So picked up my sunglasses and they are actually sunglasses this time...yay! 😎 Still not sleeping properly since the police incident and v tired (woke up with a unicorn in my bed again this morn, LOL). Doing more of the Arts Trail tomorrow with DD and catching with a friend and her kids on Sunday. If weather stays nice prob go to a NT place to let the kids run wild. Looking forward to a chilled weekend. Anyone got any nice plans?

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 05/05/2017 18:42

Met DM in the Sainsbury's café for lunch, DM had roast beef, I had lasagne, picked the DC up, had lobster macaroni cheese for supper, DD's going to bed, DS2's crashed out on the sofa, putting him to bed next. Grin

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 05/05/2017 20:05

I'm in bed! Grin

In response to questions about EDLad, he's still in hospital, he's having his op on Wednesday. Grin

SassynSane · 05/05/2017 20:10

That's fantastic news EDBD! Sorry but I don't actually know (please don't feel obliged to tell me) but where exactly is the growth they are going to remove? I will keep everything crossed for you all on Weds!!!

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 05/05/2017 20:30

Um, even I don't know! He doesn't want to tell me for whatever reason. I'm guessing it's somewhere embarrassing.

SassynSane · 05/05/2017 20:42

Oh bless him. The only reason I was asking was wondering how invasive / complex op would be for him & how long it might take etc. But just one tumour and it has shrunk right? So possibly they can now remove the lot? I so hope it's a huge success EDBD....will be thinking of you...
