Oh Sassy, poor you. If it's any comfort, I suspect that had it been your house being broken into, with you inside, the police would have been there an awful lot sooner than 40 mins! Small comfort, I'm sure. Perhaps you could get their advice on what to do should the worst ever happen? A Community Support Officer should be available to help with that sort of thing, I would've thought.
EDBD - fair enough for them to come and have a look, I usually do it once or twice a year - but what I don't get is why on earth they aren't upfront about it and just say we want to inspect the property, instead of all the guff about measuring the walls! 😂 Oh well.
So...my day. Prepare yourselves, it's going to be a LONG one and I apologise now for the length of this post!
The good bit was that DS2 slept through. However, I got woken up at 5am by DD1 saying she had an upset tummy. I kind of said oh no, how awful and then both of us went back to bed. She then said she wasn't feeling well and didn't want to go to school - I must admit, I thought she was trying to pull the wool over my eyes, so I told her she was just going to have to go in and see how she went. This was met with an absolutely hideous tantrum, to the point where she refused to go into school, so I said fine, I'll just ring your headteacher and you can explain it to her. All the while I was trying to get both babies up, dressed and fed.
Then the phone rang and it was DH asking me to check on the drive to see if there was a yellow cap anywhere. He'd topped up his engine coolant yesterday and had forgotten to put it back on and only realised when steam started coming from under his bonnet this morning! 😱 No sign of the cap, I got all children into the car and off we went to school.
At around 12, just as I was starting to get lunch ready for the two babies, I got a phone call from DD1's school, asking me to come and collect her as she'd had two more episodes of an upset tummy. So back we went in the car and I noticed a yellow cap on the crossroads in the forest next to our village! I managed to stop safely and get it, then went to collect DD1. When I got there, the school nurse was telling me that DD1 has to stay home for 48 hours from the last upset tummy, so she can't go to school until Friday!!! 😱😡😱 Then my phone rang - it was DD2's school saying that DD2 was refusing to eat her lunch and was there any chance I could bring a packed lunch in?! I said no, I was picking up my eldest daughter who was poorly and please could they tell DD2 from me not to be so fussy and to eat what she's given and if she doesn't, she can go hungry! Luckily the lady agreed that she would have said the same thing to her children!
I got back home and went to give the babies their lunch, by which time it was over an hour late. After I fed DS2, I popped through to DD3 (there are internal French doors between our dining room and family room) to check on her. She'd bloody well managed to somehow grab the bowl of chocolate that was in the middle of the table, find a Creme Egg, unwrap it and eat the whole thing! She was so pleased with herself "Mummy, YUM!" she said with a huge smile on her face when she saw me. But oh, the mess!
I put DS2 in for his nap and went to sort her out. To my horror, there was no sign of the foil wrapper which had been on her plate! I panicked, convinced she'd eaten it and was on the verge of dialling NHS Direct when my friend, who I'd texted in panic, suggested I check the bin in case I'd inadvertently cleared it up. I went through my entire bin - nothing. And it stunk! Then suddenly I thought to check the recycling - and there it bloody well was, right on the top!!! 😡
The day didn't get much better, DS2 did a hideous poo which went everywhere, meaning that he had to be put through the shower right when I should have been doing dinner. DD1 was hideously grumpy because I took away her electronics after her behaviour this morning - which put DH in a bad mood because he spent about an hour dealing with her, meaning that he then got grumpy with me.
So I'm off to bed, hoping for a better day tomorrow! Oh, and DH's car is still not right, so it's going to have to go into the garage tomorrow, meaning that he'll have to take my car to work instead so I can't do any of the things I had planned for tomorrow. Grrrrrrr!
Anyway, hope you both sleep well! See you tomorrow!
