LetUsPrey · 04/03/2017 07:53

Morning wenches.

Car in for its service this morning. Urgh. I'd rather still be in bed.

I must restart West Wing. I got to partway through S2, although it will probably be a bit depressing to watch like you said Badderz.

Laterz wenches x

No plans for today except popping in to see Mum
Must get up and do stuff....

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 08:35

Morning! Off to my mum's today for her birthday. She went to see La La Land with her gentleman friend last night. Bless.

It's international women's day on weds, it's a big thing at my work so the date is drummed into my brain. So, kind of on tjat theme, I was talking to a lovely colleague at work yesterday who it turns out is half spanish. She also had one child in Spain and we were swapping our "giving birth in spain" horror stories. Hers was appalling. She went to a major hospital in a big town in the "conservative" north. Where normal practice was to take the babies from their mums minutes after birth...FOR 12 HOURS.

ShockShockShock

This was in 2004!!!!!

Wtaaaaaaaaaf?

Seriously, did this ever happen in this country, even in like the 1940s???

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 08:36

I think it did pre 1960s Madame
Shocking

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/03/2017 08:55

Morning. Shock at Spain and babies..

We are also out for most of the day It hink.

you know that thing where you tell you DC to clear up that lego or if one of the cats is sick then the lego is likely to take a direct hit. Then you come down in the moorning to complaints that a cat has been sick on the lego? That.

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 08:57

Why would anyone ever think that was a good idea, or necessary? Seriously? Shock

(Soz helen not the cat sick lego, but good luck with that Gin )

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 08:57

My sister used to clean Lego in
The top tray of the dishwasher

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 09:01

As opposed to meekly acccepting having her newborn baby taken away for 12 hours, my colleague SHOUTED continually till they got so angry that she was "disturbing the other mothers who were trying to rest", they told her to "go upstairs and find your baby then." Shock

The sad thing is, most spanish women having babies in spain dont even know their fundamental rights to humane treatment are being shat on. They just accept it because "that's how it is". It is getting better, but very, very slowly.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/03/2017 09:03

Morning ☕ Waiting for the train to Stockholm, been driving in snow for over an hour, but it went well, not many cars going in my direction but tons of cars going the other way on their way to skiing. I'm meeting a friend for lunch and fika and then tonight I'm invited to my niece's birthday, that's very nice of her. She's having the party at my sis so I just have to walk 10 meters
Tomorrow it's up early for IKEA.

Have a lovely day wenches Smile

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/03/2017 09:04

Madame ShockAngry

ApricotCrush · 04/03/2017 10:03

Morning. Lovely day here.

Madame it does happen in this country, but my experience wasn't as bad as your colleague's. Neither of my two were given to me straight away. DS was weighed, cleaned up and wrapped in a towel first, but it was much worse with DD. I didn't see her after her birth as I was taken into another room to await my GP who had to be called in to stitch me up, as I was under his care. DH had seen her (obviously!) but he had gone home because he wanted to be there when DS woke up. Both our mothers had stayed the night with him.

I was then taken into a ward, asking 'where's my baby?' The nurse said she would go and find out. By this time I was getting really worried, but she was eventually wheeled in and left at the bottom of my bed. She was absolutely fine, but she was about two hours old before I saw her and I had to get out of bed to pick her up. Like your friend, I just assumed that that's the way it was.

Urgh at cat sick and lego Helen.

That sounds like a lovely day WW.

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 10:35

Sad Angry apes.

Gobsmacked though that british natal care decades ago was less backward than spanish natal care in 2004. Shock God love our NHS.

My ds was taken off me, cleaned and weighed first too. He was screaming like a banshee. It felt like ages. They scraped all the protective gunge off him, and presented him to me saying "There! All clean!" This caused him to have severe dry flaking skin for the next two weeks. It was all going in his eyes. We had to take hin to gp cos we were so worried. Angry

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 04/03/2017 10:43

Morning

Madame That is horrifying. They took babymouse off me briefly to give him his TB jab. I cant imagine what it would have been like to have either of the boys disappear for hours Angry

Boke at the sicky lego.

I stayed up to watch the NI AE results as they came in and thank fuck that the DUP monopoly has finally been broken. But I'm knackered now.

Hope all wenches have a lovely weekend. WW I love Stockholm under snow, bet it looks beautiful.

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 11:03

Woop northern Ireland! Politics there looks so complicated, so many parties. Hope a decent govt can form now.

The gunge scraping was by far the most minor bad thing about my experience. But it was pretty horrendous so I'd better not start as I may go on for some time.

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 13:28

Christ I could write a book about the awful treatment ds1 and I had 😡
However it made me VERY clear what I would and wouldn't accept with ds2 😀

Badders123 · 04/03/2017 15:15

Phew!
Been to town with dh
Washing
Cleaned inside of car
Popped to see mum
Steam cleaned the bathroom wall tiles
More washing

I'm having a sit down!

Dh is running around like a headless chicken ATM as he leaves for a week tomorrow

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/03/2017 16:46

For Bads Wine

Having a quick sit down before party. Had a nice time in Stockholm and met only really nice shop assistants so that was a surprise. Bought some nice pressies and some stuff for myself. Looking forward to the smörgåstårta tonight Smile

MadamedeChevreuse · 04/03/2017 17:19

Have an ace time tonight ww Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/03/2017 17:27

Today I have been to SaturdayMorningSportingActivity, come home, dug up a fruit tree and replanted it in the hedge, finished cooking tea, and now we are going out again to SaturdayNightSportingCompetition

In between, DS and DH fell out because DH knocked over the hama beads that DS had been told to put somewhere safe. 'Somewhere safe' is not on the arm of the sofa, where DH knocked them over. So then I had the joy of a grumpy DS re-doing.... wait for it... the ultimate combination... Minecraft things made from Hama beads. Aaaaaargh. How's that for a combination of the two most tedious activitites ever?!

Now I have to shut down before I get teh cbf from DH for being on the computer when he wants us to be leaving the house.

Laters........

LetUsPrey · 04/03/2017 18:22

Evening wenches. Have fab evenings Wicked and Helen.

Was very lucky with both births. The only thing that really upset me was that I couldn't get the lid off a sticky toffee pudding. Hormones a-go-go.

Car done. Did some errands in town. Washing etc. Tidied away a shit load of paperwork some of which was nearly two years old

Been watching some first series Being Human. I have just about refrained from licking the TV screen.

Harmon eps of west wing later

LetUsPrey · 04/03/2017 18:48

That's what got me into watching West Wing. I searched for what he was in besides me on Sky and West Wing came up. Got hooked after watching that.

Aidan Turner is fucking gorgeous. I'll even forgive him the fingerless gloves.

Also, I'm not going to lie to you wenches, I'm a bit drunk.

Am contemplating a bath
Ds1 is doing his homework 📚
Still got more to do tomorrow - Titus andronicus - cheery!!! 🙄 ☠️⚔️
Have a good time at the party ww 🍰
Hope fancy is enjoying herself 😀
Hope all other wenches are ok x

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/03/2017 20:25

I'm back, it was ok, good food. I'm not feeling really comfortable with these relative get togethers, been a while. Some middle aged men where making jokes and they were not funny at all, but they seemed to think so. My brother and his family were sitting quitely in a corner and the birthday girl was mostly hanging out with her cousins/friends.
