I was wondering about the cats I didn't like to ask because people think I get my priorities wrong Blush

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 04/02/2017 21:50

That's very good to hear Unborn thanks for telling us.

BathshebaDarkstone · 04/02/2017 22:25

That's lovely to hear, thanks Unborn Smile

poisonedbypen · 04/02/2017 22:31

Good news. I asked up thread, i don't think its wrong priorities, they were important to Zombie.

UnbornMortificado · 04/02/2017 22:51

It seems a bit minor in the grand scheme of things but I am pleased they have got a happy ending.

I'm sure Z would be happy too.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 04/02/2017 23:02

She would be over the moon, they were very important and precious to her.

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 04/02/2017 23:05

Thanks for the update on the cats.

Wolfiefan · 04/02/2017 23:16

Unborn thanks for the update. Good to know. I know Zombie loved them dearly. They will always be Zcats!

Lovelybangers · 04/02/2017 23:35

Good news on Zcats!

Hopefully their new owners will cherish them as much h as Zombie did.

Goingtobeawesome · 05/02/2017 07:12

I've been thinking about the cats too. Wonderful news.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 05/02/2017 09:20

I'm really pleased to hear that the cats are safe and sound, thanks Unborn.

I've already posted this on the Woolly Hugs board, but wanted to share it here, if I may.

Last night I finished my first ever piece of crochet. It's something I always wanted to try but when I tried a few years ago I just couldn't get the hang of it and gave up.

Zombie and the Candy's Hugs project inspired me to try again and I have not only managed it but found that I absolutely loved doing it.

So that's two amazing things I have to thank Zombie for: inspiring me to pluck up the courage to come out of lurkerdom and say hello to you guys, and for introducing me to a new hobby which will also benefit others when they need it the most.

What a massively inspirational woman she was.

I shall keep all future crochet-related stuff on Woolly Hugs where it belongs but just wanted to share this first one with you.

The flower is made from a shade called 'lipstick'. I chose that one on purpose because it just made me think of her.

Thank you, Zombie Flowers.

I'm so pleased about the Zcats, it's fantastic that they're back in a home setting so quickly Smile

Having a pensive moment this morning thinking about zombies family and wondering how they're doing. I'd like to send some wool to Candys Hugs. Does anybody know if they require anything in particular? I'm going to send bright bright colours!
I also wanted to say that these threads have been a superb example of Mumsnet at its very best. There have been a number of threads about how Mumsnet has become a mean place, nasty comments, slapping people down. And then there was this. Mumsnetters new and old, those who knew Zombie in real life and those who only knew her online, those who chatted with her regularly on threads and those who chatted just a little or maybe not at all. All these fabulous people came together and prayed and laughed and cried. If good wishes alone could cure cancer Zombie would be free and clear. But they can't. And that just sucks. I'd like to see more of this side of Mumsnet and less of the trolling and the bunfights. More of the kindness that zombie showed to people in need. What a legacy that would be.
Oh, and the gin emoticon of course WinkGin

Dazzling If you pm Knotty and Pistey from the Candy hugs thread, they will explain to you how you can donate in the most practical way. If the thread isn't in Active at the moment, Woolly Hugs have our own board in the Body and Soul section.

BathshebaDarkstone · 05/02/2017 13:39

Hi everyone! My cheek swab kit arrived! GrinGin

dazzlingdeborahrose · 05/02/2017 22:55

Thanks Ada and Sassy. I will check into the woolly hugs thread and then go shopping for wool. I love shopping for wool even though I'm a terrible knitter. Too much Gin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 06/02/2017 08:14

Morning, all! How's everyone doing?

Bath, my cheek swab kit arrived on Friday. That's a job for me to do today.

It's ever so cold and frosty here, going to go out in it shortly to take DD2 to school.

DS2 had me up at 12, 1, 2 😴 - think he's teething. I'm shattered this morning so I'm officially putting myself in charge of handing out the coffee!

Brew anyone?

SassynSane · 06/02/2017 08:20

Morning Malcolm Smile Yes please to Brew DD has a sickness bug so no school today and also disturbed night....I feel your pain!

So I have to ask, cheek swab kit? I think I might have missed something cos that has confused me Confused

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 06/02/2017 09:25

It's to go on the DKMS register as a bone marrow donor, for those too old for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

I've been registered with the Anthony Nolan Trust since I was 25ish, but now that I'm 40, I'm too old for them ! However, DKMS will have me for some reason, not sure why.

Here's a link to their website if you're interested:

https://www.dkms.org.uk/en

Oh and here's a Brew, we can sympathise together about our wretched lovely children!

SassynSane · 06/02/2017 10:07

Thanks Malcolm, that explanation is far lovelier than the random musings that were going on in my brain first thing Grin....also 40 + a couple of years so will check this link out, thank you.

Thanks for the Brew I have a feeling there will be quite a few needed to keep us going today! Wink & maybe just a little Cake

BathshebaDarkstone · 06/02/2017 10:45

Morning! I'm agonising over whether I've done the cheek swab right! Confused It's in the post anyway. I've just had breakfast. A bit longer on here, then shopping.

I will pluck up the courage to sign up for Candy's Hugs, but I was utter shit at knitting last time I tried! Blush

Solo · 06/02/2017 10:50

Only just seen this :( So sad. Bless Zombie. Rest in peace love Thanks.x

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 06/02/2017 11:15

Have you ever tried crochet, Bath? I originally signed up as a knitter (really not a very good one) then decided to try crochet whilst waiting for my wool. I found some great tutorials on You Tube and now I'm absolutely loving it. Personally, I find it a LOT easier than knitting, once you grasp the basics.

Lovelybangers · 06/02/2017 11:40

Pah
I can't register as a bone marrow donor as have a blood clotting disorder.

I can knit though....
