BBB do you know what, I entirely understand your thinking....I actually deleted my heart post 7 times before finally hitting Post precisely because this is about Zombie....but....I think what has actually been achieved through such solidarity is a liberation of sorts, rather than a hijacking....the sheer display of humanity gave me courage to share something I haven't really shared in RL...but I get that maybe it doesn't feel like that....sorry! backs away nervously from those bloody sharp spears

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 01/02/2017 23:22

I apologise most sincerely if I have offended anyone. I am truly, truly sorry if I have blundered onto your thread inappropriately. I understand and appreciate that things are very raw at the moment and that you all are grieving a friend. It was never my intention to push myself into what is obviously a very close group and act like I'm the same as you, when you have all suffered a very real loss whereas for me, I only lurked from afar and didn't join in. Perhaps that's made me feel closer to things than I am, and so I have acted in a way that seems inappropriate.

I honestly would never want to act in a way that makes anyone upset, particularly at such a sad time. I would like to stick around and get to know you all properly, if you'll have me, but I shall tone it down and try and be more considerate.

I truly am sorry if I've offended or upset anyone. Flowers

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/02/2017 23:29

Isn't Candy'sHugs a pretty fabulous monument and legacy?

The humanity and solidarity have been fantastic Sassy and i'm truly happy that it made you feel like that.

I think it was the first suggestion by the poster who said he thought the Phalanx should be "amended" that is making me feel protective.

About the name Exit, not the feelings and motivation behind it.

Scratchythrustgenitalhugs · 01/02/2017 23:30

Typed and retyped my message apologising.
Am profoundly sorry to have made any one of you feel hijacked or devalued.
I understand this is raw and real and it clearly seems that I have overstepped.

As pp said as long time lurkers it may be we feel more involved than any right too. The very last thing I wanted was to hurt any of you that did step up and walk along with your friend.
You have all been really welcoming and kind. Thank you and apologies

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 01/02/2017 23:31

Well I for one know for bloody sure that this sort of carry on is the last thing that Zombie would have wanted.

As I said to someone earlier, the best thing about her was she was so bloody kind.

OhTheRoses · 01/02/2017 23:33

Night all. Getting up at 4.30 because dd has an assignment to finish. Bacon sarnies all round at 4.45.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 01/02/2017 23:46

Candy would have absolutely adored the outpouring of love and support from everyone, it's exactly what she always encouraged.

And it's been fantastic.

I'm not saying this very well, I'm sorry.

I just don't want the name Phalanx "amended".

2017BetterKickAss · 01/02/2017 23:46

Oh BBB and others: I am so very sorry for overstepping. Totally not meant to devalue.

When we were lurkers and botherers it felt right. Did not mean to be pushy.

I shall now step away and leave you to mourn, as is appropriate. Flowers

SassynSane · 01/02/2017 23:48

Disappearing to bed as Wine run out....might sneak back for a bacon sandwich at 4.45am though! Night x

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/02/2017 00:00

I was not my intention to send anyone away I promise.

I just hoped the name could remain as it was, meaning what it meant.

Thank you to those who have understood.

UnbornMortificado · 02/02/2017 00:06

It's been a funny old couple of weeks.

I love the phalanx both the name and members.

Night all.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/02/2017 06:29

Morning, all.

BBB of course I understand. And may I say what an inspiring name you chose for the Phalanx (even if I couldn't spell it at first!)

Now, I seem to recall that someone mentioned bacon sandwiches...

PacificDogwod · 02/02/2017 07:00

It's too early for bacon sandwiches for me Brew

Candy's Hugs is a fab legacy, I agree.
And I think all of us having 'known' Candy (whether in RL or on here) will hopefully carry over to supporting other people (whether in RL or on here) who find themselves dealt a similarly shitty hand. Because if Zombie could be smiling her smile in spite of what was going on, then so must we!

BathshebaDarkstone · 02/02/2017 07:03

Ooh bacon sandwiches?

BathshebaDarkstone · 02/02/2017 07:08

I'm taking DS2 to CAMHS for his ADHD assessment today. I've seen the photos in the booklet, it looks really lovely! DS2's disproportionately excited about the TV in the waiting room! Grin

DoctorTwo · 02/02/2017 07:24

My apologies BBB. I am mortified that I have upset you. I am usually the king of over thinkers; this time I am guilty of under thinking.

When I was new here I lurked for ages. I looked through the topics and saw one that intrigued. I opened it and noted it was not crawlable (if that's a word). There was a thread started by somebody going by the user name IAmTheZombie (the thread title eludes me), I clicked, read and laughed. Her wit and intelligence shone. Her 'fuck you' attitude to her diagnosis was obvious. I RTFT and wrote a reply and hesitated (for about half an hour) before I hit 'post message'. I'd done it: my first post on Mumsnet, about 6 months after I'd joined. Within minutes Zombie replied, welcoming me to The Dustbin, and that was it. I was officially a member of this wonderful community called Mumsnet.

I started writing this at 0610. It is now 0722. I am terrified of getting things wrong, I write replies to hundreds of threads then just delete for fear of offence. I need to pull up my big boy pants and hit post, so here goes...

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/02/2017 07:39

Bath best of luck with DS2's appointment. Hope all goes well and the relevant wheels get set in motion.

Doctor, I too stumbled across a Zombie thread. She had posted in an old thread I was reading in Classics - in that was a link to a separate thread explaining why she posted in the third person. Then in that separate thread there was a further link to her ongoing story - I clicked and that is how I stumbled across the Phalanx. Like you, I lurked for around 8 months or so before I finally plucked up the courage to post. Now I feel silly and sad that I didn't do it sooner.

BathshebaDarkstone · 02/02/2017 08:04

Oh I hope so Malcolm, thanks. I'm impressed that with all the NHS cuts the waiting room and the session rooms look so lovely. Smile

MrsMozart · 02/02/2017 08:13

So, a different name.

Many continued postings by all (no fear fretful ones, people won't bite on here).

Bacon butties.

And a tv in the waiting room.

Really, what more could one ask for? Gin

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 02/02/2017 08:44

I am very moved and grateful for the understanding comments.

I don't feel that anyone has blundered in, or overstepped.
It's easy to get carried away when emotions are running high, so thank you, but no need for apologies.

I believe Zombie set up Candy's Hugs because she knew people would want to do something in her memory.
They need knitters and hookers, donors and teachers. One of the wonderful things to come out of this is people offering to get together to help beginners.

So keep posting, and spread the love Smile

And thank you.

SassynSane · 02/02/2017 09:20

Bum....think am probably too late for the bacon....in the office and just noticed there's a chocolate cake....so anyone for Cake???

Gotta love a waiting room tv!

Morning all Smile

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/02/2017 10:16

Sassy, yes please! Although I'm not so fond of chocolate cake. Is there a lemon drizzle or perhaps a coffee and walnut?

SassynSane · 02/02/2017 10:24

Oooh coffee and walnut.... frantically mops up puddle of drool on keyboard Smile .... am sure I can locate one....def cake o'clock now!

UnbornMortificado · 02/02/2017 11:46

Bath good luck at CAHMS with your DS Flowers

Morning everyone Brew

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/02/2017 12:10

So this was my first attempt at a double crochet square this morning...

It's okay, you can all laugh at me!

Luckily the lovely ladies on Woolly Hugs have set me straight and I'm off to start again.

Maybe I could sell it as a piece of modern art?!
