Thereal Flowers. Hoping for a peaceful weekend for you and your family.

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 17:28

Thereal hope the pain stays under control.

I'm doing my carer training at the minute specialising in Palliative and there is a lot of drugs they can give. Either sedative and painkillers (the good ones) or just painkillers depending of preference.

I'm still training but if you ever have any questions I have lots and lots of information on the different drugs, policy's, national guidelines etc.

It is quite comforting to know Zombie is very definitely pain free. I've seen the list of drugs they are much stronger then gin and weed Wine

QuimReaper · 27/01/2017 17:30

What a lovely thought 2017 Grin

AcornToOak · 27/01/2017 17:33

Im normally quite quiet on here but i needed to add my love and respect to all these lovely messages for zombie.

Zombie i have followed your posts and enjoyed your humour for so many years now, we may never have met but i will truly miss you, i have been lighting a candle for you for the last few evenings but it just doesn't seem enough, your story has touched me and reminds me so much of my big sister who went through something so similar, i hope you are pain free and i hope you find whatever is better out there after this life, if you bump into my sister please give her a squeeze for me, she will show you where the gin is stored xx

ememem84 · 27/01/2017 17:34

Reading this thread after a shocker of a day at work has reduced me to tears.

All this love and kindness. For to most in real life a stranger. Lovely. ❤️

It's also spurred me on to donate blood. I've never done it. I think I should. Every little counts right?

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 17:40

Ememem I (and plenty others) wouldn't be here without a blood transfusion. It's a great thing to do if you can.

ememem84 · 27/01/2017 17:42

unborn

I'm going to look into it. I'm super squeamish and hate the thought of it. And a teensy bit afraid of needles. A colleague went on weds and said that the lovely nurse covered the needle with a towel so she couldn't see the blood coming out. She also got a couple of biscuits.

I love biscuits. Grin

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/01/2017 17:45

Pink hibiscus tonight

zombie

Good idea ememem

Home fires, candles and gin for zombie
RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/01/2017 17:46

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/01/2017 17:46

Thought biscuits are always a good idea

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/01/2017 17:46

Though not thought!!!

Bloody hell, ive only had one beer!!

Notjustuser1458393875 · 27/01/2017 17:47

I get TUC biscuits when I give blood. Never think to buy them any other time but they're bloody gorgeous.

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 17:53

You been at the gin Rufus Grin

I've never been able to give it (I had the transfusion age 17) but by all accounts it's painless.

For anyone (like me) unable to give blood.

www.anthonynolan.org

You can still sometimes sign up to the register to give bone marrow or blood stem cells. It's a questionnaire and a saliva sample. It helps people affected by blood disorders or blood cancer.

I think that site deals with under 35s but it links to the one for over 35s.

I was accepted even though I can't give actual blood and I'm on medication and a smoker

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 27/01/2017 17:53

Ememem whenever I've been, the nurses have been incredibly kind and sensitive to anyone who was feeling squeamish or unwell at the sight/thought of blood and do all they can to make the experience as easy as possible.

Plus, we actually had CRISPS when I went once!!!

BlackDoglet · 27/01/2017 17:57

I can't give blood (mine doesn't run fast enough so clots half way through!), so I looked for something else I could do.

Please take a look here: https://www.dkms.org.uk/en

You send them a cheek swab for DNA and then go on a register to donate stem cells and/or bone marrow if there's ever a match.

Maybe a few of the Phalanx could do this in honour of zombie Smile

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/01/2017 17:57

I didnt think to include the bottle of gin!!!!

I've signed up to do a 5k 'Bubble Rush' run in aid of our local hospice, and I'm dragging DD1 along with me for the ride. I've been inspired by Zombie, hospices are such important places.

Running through masses of multicoloured bubbles in a day-glo tutu seems to me such a wonderful Zombie-like thing. Sadly I don't think they'll allow me to run with a pint of real ale in my hand, but I'll definitely have one afterwards for you, Zombie.

I've been the recipient of a blood transfusion, and I want to thank everyone who donates blood. You guys are literally life-savers Thanks

BlackDoglet · 27/01/2017 17:58

Xpost unborn Flowers

Another worthy cause.

kelper · 27/01/2017 18:11

Got a glass of vino for you tonight Zombie however a word to the wise, do not buy £4.50 chardonnay because you spent a frightening amount on ds for his birthday because it will taste a tad acidic :-/
Hope you had a peaceful day, and hugs to those going through pain right now ❤

SloanyAnne · 27/01/2017 18:11

I feel less scared of donating blood having had a nosey today. No blood to be seen and the staff were lovely. I'm definitely doing it as soon as I'm allowed.
I've been thinking a lot lately about life and stuff. I think it's so random. DS1^s best mate from uni died overnight this week when he slipped into a diabetic coma overnight. He was in his early 20s and according to DS1 he was the loveliest happiest person DS1 had ever met. There's no rhyme or reason so I'm going to take refuge from the madness in random acts of kindness instead and find or make some joy each day as it's the only day we have. Take that Death. Up your hole. And you Trump etc etc.
Sorry for the typing but I'm in the bath with my glasses in the bedroom.

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 18:14

I think Z would love the fact a thread in her honour was spurring posters on too donate various bodily fluids (ahem)

Black I'd never heard of it till I saw a FB appeal. I'm surprised they don't mention it to potential bloody donors who get turned down.

I have applied to do volunteer work in a local hospice to run alongside work/training. Although it's partly work related I will be doing it in Z's name.

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 18:15

Blood donors not bloody donors Blush

SloanyAnne · 27/01/2017 18:18

Not many other bodily fluids happening here what with the dry eye thing and the menopause

Happy to give what I have.Grin

MrsMozart · 27/01/2017 18:22

Mum wasn't a gin person, but she baked the best ever scones so enjoy and have one for me please. My ol'Pa will regale you with many a tale and gives the bestest Eskimo kisses.

DoctorTwo · 27/01/2017 18:37

I did this. It's not much, especially compared to you lot.
