Morning wenches. Very windy here too.

Lovely new thread Helen.

I'm very impressed by wenches' DIY skills. My DF was very good at DIY and so was my FIL, but DH is much better than both of them. He was a lighting engineer but apprenticed as an electrician, and he picked up a lot of his knowledge working on building sites. He tried to teach DS as a youngster but he had no interest whatsoever so he comes to DH whenever he wants anything doing. The DGC are the same, 'Grandad will mend it'. Strangely though DGS (6) loves the workshop and all the tools, so it may have skipped a generation. I'm totally useless at DIY as I've always relied on DH. My way of mending things is the same as Badders', a good whack often works. Grin

It's the same on the distaff side. My DM was a gentlemen's tailoress, she could make suits and coats. I can sew, knit and crochet but in spite of my endeavours DD can't sew a button on. Consequently everything that needs altering/repairing comes here. I feel that we've failed them both because when we're gone they'll have to pay for everything. It's so sad that all these skills are being lost.

Have a good day all. Smile

Dad taught me to weld and I can use a lathe
But I don't enjoy diy or gardening really
God I'm knackered

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 11:47

Off to work ❄️

ApricotCrush · 11/01/2017 11:55

Hope you're wrapped up well Bads.

I was just thinking this morning we hadn't had anything since November.

Well I think bads wins the wench diy comp. Welding! #Impressed Grin

But helens death defying electrical skills come a close second. Shock Helen this is what my dp does to me. Rewiring plugs while still plugged in etc. (Slight exaggeration but that kind of thing.) Hmm Hmm

Love the new strike photo. Yep, wish she'd share a few more....

I am enjoying all the Donald Trump watersports gags on SM today. Wish it was a) totally verified and b) damaging enough to bring him down, but hey, at least it's getting a laugh at the expense of the giant hamster haired turd.

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 14:32

Well
I will never be warm again
😖😳😞❄️

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 16:30

Madame... I got an A in metalwork 👍
I didn't do so well in textiles ☠️

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 17:01

Fab pic btw apes ❤

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2017 18:30

Evening. Cold and stormy here Angry

Love the pic Apes Smile

I've actually sewn two evening gowns during much swearing

LetUsPrey · 11/01/2017 19:00

Evening wenches.

Tired again. Woe etc. Still windy but hoping it'll bog off soon.

My mum is handy with a needle and thread, and BigSister is also quite talented with sewing. Me not so much. They and LittleSis are also good at cooking and housework-y type stuff. That seems to have passed me by. My grandma taught me to knit and I'm not bad at it but I don't have the patience any more.

Grin at giant hamster haired turd

FancyFancy · 11/01/2017 19:26

Evening wenches. Just for a change I should be cooking dinner, but I'm not Grin

Like letus I was taught to knit, but never had much patience - I always needed DM or DGM to correct my errors.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2017 19:30

I'm an expert on starting knitting projects, I think I have three sweaters that will never get finished Blush

FancyFancy · 11/01/2017 19:34

I bet they will make fab cat nests ww - just take the needles out first Wink

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2017 19:43

I managed to knit a shawl though, only took 3-4 years Grin

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 21:31

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2017 21:41

Badders123 · 11/01/2017 21:56

Bloody dh and his bloody job
Ffs
Gah

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2017 22:21

Oh FFS - Wicked I was trying to post this pic for you... though you've probably seen it

Back to practical stuff - my Mum is utterly awesome with sewing, and I very lazily get her to do loads of stuff for me, - if only because her sewing machineis permanently out. I have made my own curtains though, so I can doooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit if I put my mind to it (and the sodding machine doesn't have tension issues and get all tangles in 10-squillion miles of thread)

I was thinking about heading for bed - therefore Stupid Cat has jumped on me and is purring her cute furry head off.

Good to see some good old-fashioned Tav confusion in here Grin

Bastarding snow is forecast here tomorrow. Just at home time Angry . Snow can FTFO, it should only be allowed when I don't actually have to go anywhere.

I am about to finish watching Sherlock, enjoying this one more than the last ep I must say. Even though there's no FAF in it. Actually, Lestrade would do at a pinch I suppose.....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2017 22:29

Also at Baddersezez continual confusion of LetUs and Madame's viewing habits.

In TB news, Twitter tells me that "Tom Burke wins Best Supporting Actor in a New Production of a Play, for his role as Freddie Page in The Deep Blue Sea."

ermmm...

He can come round and support me any time esp. up against a wall.
Will that do, do you think?

Grin
