DS is sick, what would a good Italian mum cook for him? First time he is properly sick, I need to cook him something, even if he might not eat it...

Califrau: I answered on your wedding thread. We are flying to SF on Tuesday the 2nd (or the third) staying until sunday. It'd be lovely to meet you!
Med, last time I went to Paris was in the spring 1999, when dh (then dp) was studying there. The same year I went per lavoro for the fashion shows! We went to a posh thai restaurant and harrassed john Malcovich (not me, my boss).
Dp was renting the smallest flat in the world in Paris. You could sit on the toilet and do the washing up at the same time !

Rosa5 · 22/03/2007 19:40

ALl this talk on travelling has made me green Paris, San Francisco - I went when I was 10 and can only really remember the trams! Bath I love the place..so have persuaded DH to take us away but we have work commitments up to 31/03 then free to April 10 then busy 10/11 and free to 20th.Dove andiamo ???

franca70 · 22/03/2007 21:12

you can fly to bristol from venice with easy jet, you can stay in bath and explore the gorgeous countryside (and bristol is nice too!)

franca70 · 22/03/2007 21:13

or from venice you could go to croatia. dubrovnik?

Rosa5 · 23/03/2007 08:25

I was thinking of Croatia but the NOrth as its easier to drive there. Dubrovnik is too far it takes ages to get there from here. We use Bristol regularly to get to the west country as Grandparents are there.
Or maybe if I can get flights possibly the Canaries...but expect it will be expensive being Easter.

mediterraneo · 23/03/2007 10:08

E' bella la Croazia! Il pesce e'squisito.

franca70 · 23/03/2007 11:20

Yes, It's quite expensive to fly from Italy to the canary islands... I've never been there, though.

Rosa5 · 23/03/2007 13:26

Just looked at Iberia and its not too bad. Will wait and see what Dh says on his return. He might want to go to the montagna but seeing as have little toddler its not so fun for us whilst he goes skiing.

franca70 · 23/03/2007 14:19

is there any snow? I haven't skied for years. Another lovely place at easter time is isola d'elba

Rosa5 · 23/03/2007 14:31

The recent bad weather has apparently covered the pistes ( finally). But that also means the streets will be covered , pavements etc and when it melts loads of slush not very buggy friendly. I used to ski a fair bit but not been for the last few years. Elba ..Not thought of that. DH suggested an apartment in Montagna or Toscana but not really keen would prefer a hotel.

franca70 · 23/03/2007 14:57

how old is your dd again? because montagna (and it depends where) could be very nice. It's not going to be too cold and you can take her on the slitta, etc etc. But, I'd choose the seaside. Look at this
(haven't checked the price though )

Rosa5 · 24/03/2007 08:10

DD is just 12 months and toddling. She would probably sit/lie on a slitta for a bit. No flights left for the Canarie...left it toolate and I had found a hotel !
Elba looks nice but 7 hrs in a car plus the ferry is a bit daunting but have to start somewhere. I iwll have a look in MOntagna as well but fancy a hotel but need one child friendly food wise.

franca70 · 24/03/2007 10:31

When I was pg with ds I went to San candido,
here
The hotel is lovely, and very family friendly. some rooms have a kitchen, and the breakfast is fantastic. all the restaurants in san candido are very family friendly. We went there with 2 couples of friends who had then a 9 months old baby and a 6 months. The hotel has also a small spa. San candido centre is closed to traffic. And around are lots of huge hotels with great spas and indoor swimming pools where you can go with dd. It's a very family friendly area (very close to austrian borer) and very well organized. must go and see what children are doing

PippiLangstrump · 24/03/2007 21:35

buonasera. eccomi di nuovo. Dd with chicken pox so very little time for myself.

very of franca's trip to S.F.: my favourite city in the world after London.

Med, I am so sorry! A big belated hug!! enjoyed the trip?

Oh in need of a minibreak with DH asap too.

Rosa5 · 25/03/2007 09:31

Franca u r a star looks like just the kind of thing we are looking for. We went to San Candido in September once for 3 days and walked our feet off will show dh when he gets back . He is off out today its foul weather so I am left with an out of sync baby . I hate this hour change. But it looks just great. Mille Grazie !

Pippi hope your dd has stopped scratching poor thing.

franca70 · 25/03/2007 14:35

hi pippi, your poor dd, how is she now? Ds had it 2 yrs ago, very mild form (no temperature, just a few blisters). 20 days later I had it with a vingeance. It was awful.
Rosa, let me know how it goes! San Candido is a special place, I'd love to go back. These friends of mine go regularly, apparently it has also excellent facilities for small children learning to sky.

PippiLangstrump · 25/03/2007 21:48

she's not too bad actually thanks. except for not wanting to go to bed and when she does it is in ours so that I end up on the sofa! (not as bad as poor Dh who ends up with DD and the cat taking up all the space!)

franca70 · 25/03/2007 22:00

! we'd need a cat as well. we have mic living in the downstairs toilet!

franca70 · 25/03/2007 22:00

mice

PippiLangstrump · 25/03/2007 22:40

well i'd be careful if I were you.. my cat bring the mice IN FGS!!! as presents!

PippiLangstrump · 25/03/2007 22:42

BTW DD is till up - running around like it's xmas tomorrow. I am not used to this, I like my adult evening - please promise me it is all going to go back as before once the last spot has disappeared [begging emoticon]

franca70 · 25/03/2007 23:10

. Put her back in her cot! Is she still scratching a lot? Poor little thing!

PippiLangstrump · 26/03/2007 11:02

no she's not scratching much, the cream seems to work wonders. However she is not herself when it comes to bed time. as I said she seems terrified of being left alone to sleep. she's\never been this way so I take it is something to do with her not feeling well. I hope so!!

home from work again today. i'm more at home than in the office. thinking of being a SAHMfor a while. what do you think? am i going to go insane? thing is I am not enjoing wotk at themoment as I am never there to do it properly and seem to be rushing aroiund all the time...

franca70 · 26/03/2007 12:46

dd went through a similar stage when she was around 26 months. She has always been a good sleeper, and very easy at bed time (I used to kiss her and put her in her cot and then leave the room). But then all of a sudden she said she was scared, every noise freaked her out, she wanted me holding her hand etc. So we had a month of a very long bed time routine, 5 maisy's books to read, swithc off the light, me sitting close to her cot and tellingher 3 stories, the leaving the room but staying by the door and tell her I'm here everytime she called me. Then after a while she seemed to be more confident. Now I read her one book, put her in her cot, give her a glass of water, give her three kiss and three carezze, and I go. she's fine. maybe your dd is going through a clingy phase, or is she starting having nightmares?
I'm not the right person to ask about sahm. I'm not really happy or satisfied. However, if you are not happy with your current job...
