'troll' label too quickly applied on mnet

Often recently, I've noticed that when someone starts a thread that appears controversial to many, they are quickly dismissed as a troll.
To some extent I accept that, as it's not impossible that people start threads to stir things up.
But is it not possible that after having started a thread that everyone starts railing against, the original poster feels a bit cowed by the criticism and doesn't fancy returning.

If you're a troll then there is no harm in someone having suspicions about that fact.
If you're not, then you can say so, and no harm in someone having suspicions.
I have rarely seen spurious troll accusations on a thread with a serious theme though, TBH.
