Stupid eldest boy caught D.U.I 87 milligrammes per 100, duty sols told him not to admit he had no full licence (only provisional) and no insurance till he goes to court nxt week, what can he expect and i think he should own up now about not having ins and licence.

any advice please?

JARM · 19/01/2007 09:02

Dh did this as a kid, prov license (wasnt under influence) and got 12 mnth ban and £515 fine.

He smashed into another car!

paulaplumpbottom · 19/01/2007 09:04

Sorry Posting.

postinginnewname · 19/01/2007 09:05

JARM, if he was a kid it would prob explain it but he is 26 years old and should know better and be more responsible.

The older they get the worse they get. .

JARM · 19/01/2007 09:07

bloody hell - DH was 17 (so pretty much a kid)

DH has said he needs to tell them asap, because he tried to say he did have them and he didnt!

I really hope its a ban and fine.

SOrry you are going through this.

fairyjay · 19/01/2007 09:09

Do our kids ever stop worrying us. So sorry for you, but at least no-one's been hurt.

postinginnewname · 19/01/2007 09:12

I think he should go down and admit now to the lack of licence and insurance, cant see why the duty sol, advised him to say nothing till court on Tuesday, IMO this will make things worse.

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 19/01/2007 09:19

I would tell him to tell everything.. be honest and at least appear to be very very sorry.

I think he'll lose his provisional for a couple of years and get a hefty fine!

meanscottishbint · 19/01/2007 10:20

imho - i think he should wait until he can get some good legal advice before approaching the police with the full story...i do hope there is someone out there who knows what to do. so glad he hasn't hurt himself or anyone else. What happened to his friend?

mumblechum · 19/01/2007 10:26

He'll probably get a two year ban. The fine will depend on his financial circumstances.

Definitely come clean about no insurance/licence now.

100PerCentCod · 19/01/2007 10:40

that is A Huge amount i am afraid he is out of fine and ban territoyr
he is into community order land - he will haev to go to court and hten be adjourned for a probation report and will prb get unpaid work

the ban is 2 years reduced to 18 months if he does the course. tell hsi soliciotr to accpet that when he gets to court.

Hi

Sorry this is a bit of a hijack!

U still around cod? I have an accquanitance (she likes to call me her best friend - but not the case!) who was caught drunk driving, the figure was 103 !!!! I think, but she got 29 month (reduced by 25% if she goes on a course, £60 fine - but the bit I find confusing is she was tagged!! Now due to various "issues" with her and "stories" I think this may be unrelated. So question is: are you likely to get tagged for drink driving or could it be something else (I'm thinking along the lines of stalking, being a nuisance etc)?

Sorry again to hijack - but this is quite a story and I may divulge more later.

Thanks
