Hi all.

As some of you know I am having problems with my car, Smart ForFour, and currently have legal proceddings against them to recover costs.

I need to do some research to help our case.

Our clutch and fly wheel broke on our Smart ForFour. I need to find out if anyone lse has had to change a flywheerl and when.

Clutch Life Expectancy

  1. How old is your car?
  1. What make is your car?
  1. How many miles has your car done?
  1. What type of driving do you do generally - motorway, town/city, rural, mixed, etc?
  1. Do you ride the clutch?
  1. Have you had to change your clutch?
  1. How old/number of miles had you done at that point?
  1. Where there any other reasons for the clutch going?
  1. If applicable, did the manufacturer cover it under your warranty? If not, why not?

Thank you. I need to get as many responses as possible.

Don't know.

If you could elaborate on "riding the clutch", could answer that too.

Hulababy · 15/01/2007 11:03

Ride the cltuch - hold down clutch whilst still moving, such as in heavy traffic, coming up to turnings/traffic lights, holding on the bite at junctions/traffic lights especially on hills, etc.

Oh bollocks, that didn't work out well - I typed it out in two nice neat columns but it didn't turn out like that. Hope it makes sense.

Hulababy · 15/01/2007 12:03

mumblechum - I can work that out, thanks.

So no new clutches yet then? And all cars older/more miles than mine I think. Hmmm.
