Hi all.

As some of you know I am having problems with my car, Smart ForFour, and currently have legal proceddings against them to recover costs.

I need to do some research to help our case.

Our clutch and fly wheel broke on our Smart ForFour. I need to find out if anyone lse has had to change a flywheerl and when.

Clutch Life Expectancy

  1. How old is your car?
  1. What make is your car?
  1. How many miles has your car done?
  1. What type of driving do you do generally - motorway, town/city, rural, mixed, etc?
  1. Do you ride the clutch?
  1. Have you had to change your clutch?
  1. How old/number of miles had you done at that point?
  1. Where there any other reasons for the clutch going?
  1. If applicable, did the manufacturer cover it under your warranty? If not, why not?

Thank you. I need to get as many responses as possible.

Thank you for all your help; it really did help us!

All sorted - finally!

We got to within a couple of weeks of going to court, before the offered the full amount today - which we have accepted. They haven't accepted responsibility though; apparantly it is goodwill!

They had offered us £500 last week, which we rejected. Can't believe it took this long and this much hassle. They obviously were expected us to pull out all the time and stop chasing. Luckily for us and unfortunately for them, our legal costs were free so we were able to pursue it to the end.
