Sally, PIL are down that way - we used to surf there many moons ago!
The print isn't a local artist though - he normally does the Scottish Highlands but someone comissioned him for something down here and he loved it so much he stayed and did a bunch more.

Olive, am deeply jealous of your Banksy - one of the things I liked about Hackney was Banksy-spotting from the bus to work. Not much of that in leafy Oxon, though am trying to get a print of one of the Palestine ones for DH.

NotAnOtter · 14/01/2007 21:30

I also have Serena Hall bits

funnypeculiar · 14/01/2007 21:30

glad you like it, hatwoman - my mum gave us it for our wedding (well, she gave us the money - wouldn't trust her taste for a minute ). Ours is called 'Shallow Reef, and is based on a shot of the great barrier reef - brings back pre-kids Oz hols memories...

NotAnOtter · 14/01/2007 21:30

hoxtonchick · 14/01/2007 21:41

thewoodlandfairy · 14/01/2007 21:44

our bedroom has a print of Flaming June this
Dh bought it for me the first Xmas after we married and it's been on our bedroom wall ever since. I love it.

expatinscotland · 14/01/2007 21:46

Yes.

My mother paints as a hobby, so we have a couple of things she's done.

I have some numbered lithos.

Well, several.

And some vintage posters I had custom framed.

And some stuff my dad bought at auctions/estate sales.

noddyholder · 14/01/2007 21:48

We have a mix of original pieces by young-ish artists that i have bought at various exhibitions adn some i painted aswell as a few large framed photographs of trees etc

suedonim · 14/01/2007 22:40

Yes. We've got a couple by that Edinburgh chappie who does those misty romantic views of Edin skyline (Expat, help me out here!). Also various bits we've picked up over the years when out and about and been given. Our last purchase was a fab Nigerian street scene. We also have some gorgeous batik fabric prints from Java but have yet to put them on the wall.

expatinscotland · 14/01/2007 22:42

It wouldn't be Vettriano?

He's a Fifer.

expatinscotland · 14/01/2007 22:58

Uh uh, cod. B/c anyone who knows me knows what I really fancy is Cock of the Week .

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 22:59

your wish

suedonim · 14/01/2007 23:01

Not Vettrianno. Is he a Fifer? I didn't know that.

The one I'm thinking about had his heyday a while back so he may not appear on your radar, Expat. Got to go to bed now (we're an hour ahead of you) so will google for him tomorrow. Night night!

expatinscotland · 14/01/2007 23:03

I'll bet he can really crow, cod .

PeachyClair · 14/01/2007 23:14

Two huge pics in the main room.
this is dh's

and this is mine

Carmenere · 14/01/2007 23:19

Much prefer yours Peachy

PeachyClair · 14/01/2007 23:21

Ours does match our sofa BUt that's coz we bought rhe sofas after. We move arouns a bit (hopefuklly not again for a while) and can't guarantee the decor of the next palce, so keep tjhings within a certain clour scheme if we can, dictated by the pictures. iyswim.

PeachyClair · 14/01/2007 23:22

I do Carmenere, but Dh does carnivals so it spoke to him really- which is what art should do isn't it? Mine is fab because everyoen wants to know what the two people are talking about- I love that (men always think they're lesbian- ?? why?)

lucykate · 14/01/2007 23:26

we've got nice pictures in our house, but then, dh is a portrait painter and i'm a textile/embroidery designer, so its mainly our own stuff, or stuff by people we know who's work we like.

the other things we have up is my collection of original 60's beatles magazines

JackieNo · 15/01/2007 09:55

Thanks EmmyLou - I like those 2 too. I'd spotted that was where she sells things, so might have to keep an eye out (probably can't afford them, but nice to look and dream!). I'm originally from Pembrokeshire, so nice to have a local link too.

Twinkie1 · 15/01/2007 10:00

We have some lovely pictures that DH bought from a local gallery - limited edition print things - by some Indian artist of cat and dogs - don't even know the guys name and we also have some landscapes by another lady who I don't now who she is.

We also have a Rolf Harris above our bed of some blue trees which is lovely but rather big and I have a huge fear of it falling on my head when I am asleep.

Dh does have a degree in the history of art and is a bit funny about 'mainstream' pictures - I would be quite happy to go to John Lewis and pick anything but thats just me!!
