You usually have a stop cock somewhere either inside or outside your house to cut off the water to the entire house - sometimes I think they are shared between houses, depends on the type /age of house I think

merrylissiemas · 23/12/2006 14:13

there should be a tap under your sink.

Quootiepie · 23/12/2006 14:13

I have a leak and need to turn the water off urgently as I can't get anyone to come and fix it. I'm sure I saw someone turn it off from under the sink before.

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:14

It worked. Thanks girls.

Whizzz · 23/12/2006 14:25

I think you are also supposed to tell your water company so that you dont get charged for the use of the water. Water companies usually have their own website telling you waht to do. Hope theres not too much mess

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:25

One more question. That should stop the leak no?

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:27

Thanks whizz. I'll google it and find the website.
Do you think the leak will stop now while the waters off?

merrylissiemas · 23/12/2006 14:27

that wont stop the leak, you still need a plumber. do you know where the leak was coming from?

merrylissiemas · 23/12/2006 14:28

sorry, i mean FIX the leak

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:32

I know it wont fix it but will it stop it untill I can get a plumber?

merrylissiemas · 23/12/2006 14:33

sorry, yes that'll do it (had a dizzy mo there) sorry sorry sorry

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:33

I rent my house so have to run everything by my landlady first. I told her yesterday about the leak. She told me someone would be round this morning to fix it, he hasn't turned up. Her phones off too so I don't think anyone will come to fix it untill after christmas now.

lornaloo · 23/12/2006 14:34
