ok shrub - here goes

wobblyknicks · 17/05/2004 14:34

do Ctrl C on the address you want to link to.

Then type the following this

Where I've put 'CtrlV' - that's what you do to paste the address, you don't type CtrlV.

Where I've put 'this', you type whatever you want the link to 'say' instead of the word 'this'

HTH

wobblyknicks · 17/05/2004 14:35

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh - forgot it would do a link!!!

Ok - type this but with NO asterisks in

\linkCtrlV\this{}

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:36

LOL!

wobblyknicks · 17/05/2004 14:36

come on spacey - stop laughing and help - you are tech's wench after all!!

Hulababy · 17/05/2004 14:36

I will give it a go for you:

TYPE

\link

then type in the full web address of the site you want (or copy and paste it from the address bar - have it loaded on another window)
eg:

TYPE

http:\www.mumsnet.com

TYPE

\

TYPE any text to give a description of the site or a message to the reader - they only see this text and not the website address{}

eg

read this

TYPE

}

So a link to Mumsnet would be (without the return/newlink after \link):

\link
www.mumsnet.com\Read this on Mumsnet{}

or

Read this on Mumsnet

Hulababy · 17/05/2004 14:37

Gosh, I am so slow!!! LOL

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:37
  1. Type "\link"
2. Type "" - note they are curly brackets 3. Type in the complete web address including the "http://" at the beginning 4. Type "\" followed by whatever you want your link text to be e.g. "\click here" 5. Type "{}"

if that's wrong i will eat my deputy tech hat

wobblyknicks · 17/05/2004 14:37

hula - slow but accurate - unlike me!!!

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:37

wobblyknicks · 17/05/2004 14:38

spacey - get eating!!!! Only one curly bracket at end!!!

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:39

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:39

spacemonkey · 17/05/2004 14:44
