How do you get drunk on Port?

The rule with port is, if you open a bottle you have to finish it. And always pass to the left. That should do the trick.

Hmm, that's why I thought I'd ask for advice. DH is away for Xmas do all night. Am feeling the need to have my own little Xmas do (might even visit the Chat bar for the first time later). Don't even know what is a normal measure let alone what quantity is going to make me puke but it's all I got!
I know it's sad but sometimes you've just got to drink something and it's Friday night.

I tried Port for the first time the other day. I sniffed it and kept saying to my mum "but will i like it", and then as soon as I tasted it I was like "ooooh this is nice, can i have more"

If the port's all you've got, could you concoct some kind of old ladyish drink with hot water and lemon so you don't get such a bad hangover? Or am I missing the point?

oh god, drunk on port... the only time I actually passed out properly when drunk was on port. I was 17 and drinking with some friends on a camping holiday in portugal. Was sick and passed out in the middle of the central campsite square - some kind soul carried me back to my tent.

ahh if you're on youre own passing to the left could be tricky. My (88) yr old grandad hands out port on New Years Eve to the drunks gathered in his front room - telling them its red wine!!

i suggest you get drunk on something else and leave the port!

My grandmother overdid the Port when she was abut 21.
60 odd years later,she reckoned the mere mention of the word had her heaving.
Be warned...

I got absolutely shitfaced on vodka the very first night we went to live in Russia.
I remember talking to an interpreter in a dingy stairwell then it all went black.
Took me a whole week to recover.

Get some nuts or pretzels to soak up some of the alcohol and make it a fun night

I think port is rather close to Ribena - ie far too drinkable! PLease be careful - not an old fart just one who has suffered a cracking hangover in the past!
