I KNEW THAT PIC WAS FROM DEXTER STRAIGHT AWAY.

Rbnr. Hope no one is having a major emotional trauma.

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2015 07:10

issy Flowers my ds is 5 and still in pyjama pants every night. Hmm At least this means no danger of night time accidents except when the pyjama pants leak

I am doing the english thing and following wench advice and not worrying about this / waiting for him to get dry on his own.

However I really am starting to think we will be waiting til he's 15 if we don't intervene somehow. cba with changing sheets at 4am though tbh

Badders123 · 10/09/2015 07:12

Thanks minty and mrsb.
I've no idea re second opinions.
I think I need to see what happens wrt ds2s new paed and dietician and see what happens at his next dermatology appt.
Then I will go from there.
If I'm not happy I will think about private consultation I think.
Dh is away in the U.S. Next week :( and I'm pretty much dreading it.
It's supposed to be nice here today so I was planning a washing and drying day but it actually looks a bit grim out there.
How was work minty?
Is Comtesse ok?
No idea what's going on have rbnr, sorry
Ilya x

Badders123 · 10/09/2015 07:18

Madame...honestly, it'll happen. :) I think my ds1 was still in pull ups at night til he was about 5.3.
Ds2 was dry day and night at 3.3!
They are all so different.
One thing we did do was to lift him at about 10-11pm. This did make a difference.
We also cut down on liquids after 5pm. Their bladders are so tiny at that age! Anyway it all worked out in the end :)
I couldn't get too worked about it tbh (one of few things I hear you cry!) all the women from my ante natal groups were so stressed about potty training and being dry at night. I just figured he will do it when his body and mind sync and he wont still be in pull-ups at 15 :)
I also think boys are later than girls with this particular developmental stage.
Something to do with their urethras? Can't remember.
It really looks like a November morning out there today. Where is the sun I was promised!?

Obs2015 · 10/09/2015 07:34

Sorry I haven't been either around much or much fun for the last 6 mths.
I have been consumed, with my school issues. But this will be over in a week and a half.
Maybe I can recover and get back to some TM perving wenching and Athos staring at pictures all day and not doing any housework

Obs2015 · 10/09/2015 07:46

I am a bit worried about W&P.
How is the audio version going?
Worried about how big a part TB has. And a bit worried about the actor playing Pierre Bezukhov. I wrote my dissertation on Pierre Bezukhov and I have an image of what he's supposed to look like.
Pierre is obese, big, a kind of bumbling idiot. I kind of imagine him to be a younger version and better looking Brian Blessed!!
But the actor they've chosen? Shock
Anyone else had that? Where from the book you have an image, and then the film comes out and the actor is all wrong?

MadamedeChevreuse · 10/09/2015 07:58

YES obs

Flowers Flowers Flowers we're always here waiting for you, really hope school issues are resolved forever soon!

Thanks bads - I guess we probably should start doing lifting...

LetUsPrey · 10/09/2015 08:00

Morning wenches.

Re night time dryness, we ended up with a bed alarm and tablets for DS1 when he was about eight or nine, but didn't start seeking medical advice till he was probably nearly seven. We spoke to the school nurse before that and she was very reassuring. Alarm and meds did the trick. Also for night time bedding changes have two sheets on the bed with the waterproof sheet between them.

And because ep9 rewatch is approaching

Obs!
Hope the issues are resolved ince and for all x
I haven't read w and p. I know, I know. I will. But it's just soooo fecking Boring! :)

Badders123 · 10/09/2015 08:03

Minty and I made a cushion fort yesterday - join us!

MrsEvadneCake · 10/09/2015 08:16

Morning. Just checking in with cwtchs and more cushions and supplies for the fort.

DS gone to big school breakfast club this morning. What a difference a day makes. He's going to 'swipe his thumb print and eat hash browns'!

I'll catch up on a bit.

FancyFancy · 10/09/2015 08:34

Morning

The sun is over here badders & I have no washing to do Shock

madame - DS wasn't dry at night until 6.5 yo, I believe it's to do with production of a specific hormone that concentrates the urine when asleep? (apologies to medical wenches for crap explanation), without the hormone it's pretty much impossible for them to be dry. Lifting was utterly pointless in DS's case, after the first few nights I couldn't rouse him sufficiently for him to wee & half asleep weeing is not recommended as you're aiming to stop them weeing in their sleep. Grin If you restrict fluid before bed, make sure he's drinking plenty in the day to ensure the bladder is used to getting full.
It was frustrating and rather stressful waiting for him to get dry, it's not like learning a skill that you can gradually see them getting better at. Theyre wet every night and suddenly they're dry (nearly) every night in most cases.

FancyFancy · 10/09/2015 08:46

Hope that school issues will be over for you obs & increased perving will of course be welcome Grin

Yes, I frequently get the rage over casting decisions, to the extent that I can't bring myself to watch certain versions (P&P with KK & MM being the most obvious example)
I'm concerned about the Pierre actor too, not how I imagine the character, but will put up with it as he's not my favourite character. If I don't like the Natasha casting I will really struggle though.

Grin mintyEva, so pleased DS is being enthusiastic this morning. Envy over the hash browns though

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2015 09:07

Morning!

Flowers for Obs and Issy.

I'm worried about W & P now too. I haven't read the book, who has time, but from that poster, it appears that Tom has a lead part, and I'm concerned that they're exploiting him to sell the programme. Although he did seem to be out there in Russia/Lithuania a lot, so is it possible that they've played fast and loose with the plot? It's not unknown. Hmm

Duvet update: It's stopped dripping. Grin

Have a good day all wenches!

Alibabsandthe40Musketeers · 10/09/2015 09:23

Morning wenches

WHERE IS MY FUCKING PERIOD???? If it would just turn up, everything would be better.

Issy BrewBrewBrew

Madame DS1 is still in pull ups at 7, DS2 is dry at 4. There is no logic. We too are taking the approach that he will get there in time, but as time goes on I am wondering if we need to go back to the GP about it and see what, if anything, can be done. Letus that is very reassuring :)

Obs lovely to see you, hang in there wench, we got you Cake

Slightly better day from DS2 yesterday - he whacked someone again, but then the next time there was an 'I want it, no I want it', he did go to the teacher instead of lashing out, but not before the other child whacked him. Hopefully lesson learnt, and the teacher is being fine with me and with DS2 - I think I must have imagined the frost the other day.
DS1 is still enjoying juniors, he came home yesterday and voluntarily launched into his first proper homework. We shall see how long that lasts Grin
I feel like shit this morning, PMT has hit it's peak, god I hope it turns up today. Our cleaner comes on a Thursday, which is great but involves a huge tidy up. DH has as usual waltzed off to work and left various piles of man-items around the house as he does most weeks, I really don't know who he thinks is going to deal with this stuff once I go back to work. Tbh I don't know who is going to deal with it. Any tips from working wenches with small DCs?

I am going to go and drink tea and do admin, and then tidy up in a bit when I feel more awake, hopefully.

FancyFancy · 10/09/2015 09:43

Yes I was surprised to see how prominent TB was in the poster too apricot, I don't remember his character being that major. I am bemused if they are pushing him as a 'big name' to draw in an audience, when there has been no such use of him in promo for TM or any fucking promo of TM at all really

Good news about DS2 ali, maybe the teacher was having a tough first day too, or possibly has realised that it was unlikely that the thwack came from nowhere, or indeed that he was the only one doing it!

No advice re piles of man stuff & back to work, due to not working, but when I was a kid, anything left lying around would be tidied away by my parents - but not necessarily tidied away where I would have wanted it. And if I then couldn't find it, I got no sympathy. I'd be tempted to get a big bag/box & sweep all un-tidied away crap into it, if it becomes harder for him to then find it than tidy it away in the first place the message may get though. Would still be better for him to just fucking put it away when asked though.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/09/2015 09:50

Morning all.

to those in need.
I haven't read War and Peace. DS was dry at night from 3 (I think) I don't remember having problems with castings of favourite books. (Oh yes - Interview With the Vampire was dodgy but I can't find the energy to get worked up about it now - I probably was at the time. These days it's more of a Hmm moment than Angry American Gods might inspire some sort of response but they're casting at the moment, and to be fair my internal picture of the lead didn't match the book's description anyway.)

In short, I am useless.

But I did read/hear something similar to Fancy about hormone production being responsible for being dry at night, and think LetUs' idea of double sheets is v. clever.

Badders We have sun here and I have at least two loads to do - the first in is the machine.

Obs hang in there - you've been under massive stress and the end is in sight.

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2015 09:56

Fancy my DH does that to me! He's tidier than me and if I leave anything lying around he 'puts it away', but he doesn't know where I keep it, so I can't find it. It's infuriating.

Obs2015 · 10/09/2015 10:15

Am I allowed to bore you all TITLESS re W&P? Please. Please. It is my 'mastermind chair subject'.

I think I know why TB has been filming in Lithuania so much Apricot.
I think they are really bigging up the Dolokhov character. Utilising TB to bring in the crowds.

But, (here goes the boring bit) ....
Dolokhov eptitomises Tolstoys main obession - the search for the meaning of life and the conflict of good and bad - the struggle between war and peace,in us all.
Dolokhov, appears to be a really nasty piece of work, poor, no connections. A gambler. He flirts with Helene and this drives Pierre crazy - infact everything about him, Pierre despises.
Dolokhov is a really interesting character. He is a real mummy's boy and this side of him is exposed when we see him with his mum.

All of Tolstoys work, every single piece he wrote , prior to W&P examined this whole idea of W&P, good and bad, different sides to ones personality.

That is why, when you write about Tolstoys search for the meaning of life in W&P, you start of examining all his previous works, because it was all a journey , culminating in W&P.

I suspect, that as we all know that TB is a highly intelligent man, he knows all about this. and THIS is why he has decidedto take the part of Dolokhov.

But I STILL FEAR how little actual screentime they will give to TB. we will see.

Anyone nodded off? Wink

Lecture over. You can come back now. Honest governor!!!

Obs2015 · 10/09/2015 10:16

Still laughing at Apricot and her duvet.

And Alib tidying away her dh's crap, prior to the cleaner coming. Ha ha.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/09/2015 10:17

Was interesting Obs.

Not having read W&P or having any knowledge of it apart from its reputation as a massive book that takes ages to read, I don't mind if they big up his character Grin

ApricotCrush · 10/09/2015 10:52

Interesting Obs, thank you. I'm really tempted to read it now.

Obs2015 · 10/09/2015 11:07

Good luck Apricot.
I do agree with bads, it is not an easy book to read. Some of the war bits I found mind numbingly awful. But I had read nearly all of of Tolstoy's works, prior to reading W&P, so I enjoyed the development of his characters and the noticing themes from his previous works. I enjoyed his development as a writer.

But if you just dive in to W&P, you wouldn't get that. And I suspect it is a bit of a slog to read.

I read it in one sitting!! Seriously. I picked it up and read for over a day, without sleeping, never putting it down. Yes, truely. The joys of slobbing around as a student in your pyjamas, drinking tea and reading books!!
