Parent & Child Parking bays - who should be using them?

gmummy · 22/11/2006 21:38

This is a subject which really gets me heated (I'm a bit sad, I know).
I think that the following people should not use these (usually limited) bays:

  1. people without children - obviously, they are just lazy, self centred sh*ts!
  2. people with childern over the age of 6yrs - these bays are really for people who need space to set up a pram next to the car to put their baby in or who need the space to prize their baby in it's car seat out of the car. These people's children were babies once - how can they be so inconsiderate?
  3. people who think it's all right to park in the bay because they have a car seat in the car even though there's no baby in it - this is even worse (unless they are going to collect a baby from the place where they parked)!

Anybody else get worked up about this or disagree?

You have a very valid point, but please for your own sanity, and everyone else on MN, don't even start this thread (IYSWIM)

I ranted at this once when I was new to the wholem MN thing, I quickly wished I hadn't!!

But FWIW, I do agree with everything you've said.

mumatuks · 22/11/2006 21:50

haha.. are you declaring a flame war Winestein?! (watch out I'm highly hormonal and have a black eye from my last fight with a pavement!)

WhizzBangCaligula · 22/11/2006 21:53

I think people in 4x4's shouldn't be allowed to use them.

Mwahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha

reidie · 22/11/2006 21:59

when i was 8 months pregnant (and huuuuge!) i parked in one (it was very late at night)because it was close to the doors and i was struggling to walk. (probably shouldnt have been driving really) was out buying DH an anniversary pressie. there were several other parent& child spaces free. a woman with daughter pulled up next to me (daughter was at least 10 and certainly didnt need a pram! she shouted to me
'excuse me but these are parent and child spaces, you shouldnt be parking here!'

if i hadnt have been so enormous i would have walked over and slapped her one!!!

oooh it feels good to get that out of my system!

Bozza · 22/11/2006 21:59

6 year olds? I have a 5yo who is more than capable of creeping into the narrowest of spaces and fastening himself in and has been for well over a year. Really totally unnecessary for over 3s unless they have special needs and the council has been tight with the disabled badge.

TheHighwayCod · 22/11/2006 22:00
