Oh god elk, what have I done now?

I know what you mean about having a cleaner. My mum walked 20 miles barefoot in the snow had 3 of us, a DH working shifts and kept the house immaculate. She didn't go back to work until we were older though I'm honestly just shite at cleaning.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/07/2015 21:37

Floppers I bet you didn't have as many toys though when you were DCs ages, so much less to tidy up...

Did I already say I'd love a cleaner apart from the guilt trip #Comtess and the fact that I'd have to tidy before hand - so what's the point, AND we have stuff in this house that doesn't have a home and just gets moved from one flat surface to another, so how on earth do I explain that to a cleaner?

FancyFancy · 05/07/2015 21:38

Evening

Can't remember all I've read, but puppies!!!!

My family never had a cleaner until my mum got too ill to work & do all the housework - she preferred to keep working so we got a cleaner. Working was much better for her mental state & it meant that there was less for the rest of us to do when she was too ill to do very much at all. She felt less guilty about having a cleaner than she would have done had I ended up doing tons of housework.

FancyFancy · 05/07/2015 21:48

My mum would never let the cleaner clean the toilets though - she didn't trust anyone else to do it properly Confused

Oh, just remembered, congrats to babyelk re walking

Enormouse · 05/07/2015 21:48

Aaaw well done babyelk. She and babymouse clearly belong together and should get married in 25 years or so and we can have the first wenchspring wedding.

Sends calming zen like thoughts all round.

Mr M and I are off for a brief two day holiday tomorrow in nearestcity so it's been a bit hectic getting things tidied and packed.

AnneOfAramis · 05/07/2015 21:56

My only issues with a cleaner are as already mentioned re : stuff with no homes etc. However, our place is small, I would like a cleaner to come and clean the windows/oven/ toilet and change the beds. Possibly do the washing or not. The rest we can manage.

I disagree with segregated education on every level, faith, wealth, gender etc - but DS1 is most likely to go to the local boys school because it is right for him. I use the same rationale for having a cleaner. I might be working class, second generation immigrant but times change and when my mum just kicked us out to play with the other kids on our estate whilst the lovely elderly neighbours say outside watching us dlso she could clean it just doesn't happen like that around here ...

Anyway, this sounding not too much like the tavern so ... Let's have some not too happy Aramis. Sunnnnnnddaaaaayyyyy.

DH mostly does the cleaning here, although I did the bathroom this weekend. We've just got so much crap everywhere

The WellDog puppies are so sweet!

Congratulations to BabyElk with the walking.

I've ordered some bras from Debenhams.

That time when Dog asked if he was having a hat and the others looked for the flying pigs

LetUsPrey · 05/07/2015 22:08

Oh fuck. Wrong thing there. I forgot I'd saved it as a picture.

MrsEvadneCake · 05/07/2015 22:17

We have travelling piles of stuff too Helen I often think if you lay still long enough you'd get something piled on you in this house!!

I'm eating brownie cheesecake and ignoring folding the uniforms.

LetUsPrey · 05/07/2015 22:22

And for Team Athos

Here's the link with more of the same

LaComtess · 05/07/2015 23:22

Ew. Yes Madame that's almost like having a very pally relationship to his papaGrin.

Don't go putting me up as some kinda poster girl in this non cleaner thing. I'm never at home to do owt, I work full time and stupid hours. Whole point is I have someone else doing it I just don't pay him. Or ask him. The kitchen is clean, ditto my bathroom. Everything else is what it is, and is vaguely presentable and once in a while we do a big spring clean. It's all about what matters to you. I'm very particular about loos and kitchen sinks, but not so fussy about piles of paper etc. I'd rather spend my time cooking on Sundays rather than cleaning. Different strokes and all that.

Just to underline the thing tho, recently at a BBQ a good friend of ours almost shouted at mr c 'will you just sit down and relax' to which he nodded. Sat down and then within a minute sprang up to collect a load of bottles to bung in the recycling. He's got 'ants in pants' syndrome.

Congrats to BabyElk with the steps. Wondered where you'd got to elk.

Right I'm off to Twatter to get topped up on my Tom Burke fix.

Ps

Helen do hope Dh is on the mend and over shock of incident.

mouse have a lovely time away

FancyFancy · 05/07/2015 23:36

I missed that, have a wonderful time mouse

comtess, are your men anywhere near the Tour de France on their cycling holiday?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/07/2015 00:45

FolknNorah · 06/07/2015 07:00

Morning fuckersz.
I'm feeling a bit got at today so will try not to moan too much.

Well I have a small house and a big family and despite constantly doing stuff it always looks a mess. I'm not a natural at this house/kids thing, I think I'm more the type to work all day and pay someone else to do it tbh but I'm too thick to do owt that would pay. Grin

I watched some of s2 EP the one with the fake princess and can't stop thinking that Aramis is a right shit. Not conducive at all to writing Araporn tbh Smile

We have puppies? How did I miss that? Awwwwww congrats welldog and wellerrrrsz Grin

Baddz · 06/07/2015 07:13

"Got at"? Why? [Sad]

Today I shall be mostly washing and ironing in readiness for hols.
Tomorrow is sports day (if it's not rained off)
My thoughts on cleaners are thus....
If you want one and can afford it, go for it.
Anything that mAkes life easier is a good thing.
[Smile]
Have a lovely day wenches x

MavisGrind · 06/07/2015 07:26

Morning all.

Aww for BabyElk and puppies. Very cute..

My house is only vaguely tidy because the dcs are away at their dads so much. And it helps I have very low standards Grin

Another full on week for me (which I can't complain about) but it rather cuts into my wenching time.

Enjoy your trip mouse and yours bads if I forget later in the week.

Cwtch for Nor

Layers lubbers

WellErrr · 06/07/2015 07:36

Someone bring me a chaise..!

Can't stay long, been awol a few days as DS (2) has not been well. I fact he's been in hospital and has been tested for E. coli. They let him come home to wait for results as he had perked up after fluids, but he's been crying on the toilet this morning a few times.

DH is working away, the dog has chosen this exact window of time to give birth in the utility room, and I have a walking 11 month old to deal with too, whilst trying to disinfect behind DS everywhere he goes. I'm fucking knackered.
Haven't had chance to rtft but hope everyone's ok Flowers

WellErrr · 06/07/2015 07:48

Oh and flops I don't have a cleaner but do have a mothers help, who either watches the nippers whilst I clean, or clean depending on how I'm feeling. She costs £7 an hour and it's the best money I spend. People talk but people can get tae fook as far as I'm concerned. My DH spends months away at a time and I've no family nearby so sod it.
She's very good with the kids but quite unreliable, and has unfortunately chose this week to become uncontactable.

I'm soooooo tired.

But Fireman Sam's on so I've got 10 minutes.

Congratulations elk baby and babymouse on walking! My little one learned a couple of weeks ago, it's so lovely to watch them toddling along all pleased with themselves.

Going to watch some musketeers at nap time. Cheer me up.

LetUsPrey · 06/07/2015 07:52

Morning wenches.

Baddz · 06/07/2015 07:58

Hugs for all newly walking sprogs Smile
Well....God, that sounds awful, are you ok? My 2 always get ill when Dh is away. Always. You can set your watch by it! Let us know how he is, poor lamb.
Nor...you will notice I totally ignored your "too thick" comments. I am treating them with the disdain they deserve
One load in, one load out.
Just leaning this here....
