Without a doubt .

Chandra · 15/11/2006 19:13

Typos are fun! [chandra disappears from the thread hoping she has not provided an example to illustrate the point]

Yes because it is impossible to proof read your own stuff, esp when its own a screen (as someone who is a teacher, makes few errors writing and heaps of errors typing)

Twiglett · 15/11/2006 19:24

actually I care about grammatical and spelling errors and text-speak but not about typos

I think my beating may be harder than yours Pruni

TinkersBollocks · 15/11/2006 19:24

Sometimes a typo can appear like a grammatical error though. Well, not a typo but a train-of-thoughto. eg I can get "there" and "their" mixed up when typing as I am saying the sound in my head so expect to spell it a particular way. But I do know the correct usage!

drosophila · 15/11/2006 19:25

I always find it amusing when a self confessed excellent speller always comments on their poor typing like it is a lesser crime.

Yes, but most errors are forgivable (it's not like people do it maliciously).

Agree that posts like Pruni's example cause me some... difficulty.

(will be standing right with you if/when beating transpires)

drosophila · 15/11/2006 19:27

It just makes me want to criticise them as they are criticising poor spellers.

I only set myself up as a pedant so I have further to fall tbh

as can be noted by my inability to choose the correct spelling of reigns / reins and similar gaffes

mustrunmore · 15/11/2006 19:31

I make loads of typing errors because a)my keyboard is very bad ; the keys all stick or need a very forceful push and b) my brain works much faster than my hands. I know this makes me appear very stupid. But i just cant be bothered to go and change all the bits.

I think it does in my own case, but maybe thats just because i'm so aware of it. but I'm very proud that I never do text speak

herbgarden · 15/11/2006 22:01

I need to get out more - I always preview my messages to proof read them first... - When the day arrives that I have small toddler/toddlers clambering over me and the laptop (I have the current "luxury" of small and easy baby) things may change.
PS - do the smileys go hand in hand with the poor grammar and spelling ??

nikkie · 15/11/2006 23:05

Hope typos don't matter too much as I wouldn't get to post as much if I had to keep previewing first
