Do you live by the sea ???

and if so how often do you use the beach ??

I was discussing this with my mom, me saying that i'd have a walk on the beach every day, take the kids to play on there all the time e.t.c.
My mom reckons that alot of people probably get bored of it and end up going to the beach as often as people who just holiday there.

Just being nosey really

I live literally 2 mins walk from the beach and I shamedly admit that I hardly ever go there off my own back. Saying that, I never had much chance with UH and I left him in the winter, when its not nice to go anyway. I've been a little more recently, and I expect to go regularly when the weather gets even better. And when I go out with friends, we often end up stopping for a quick walk along on the way to drop me home. So, I don't use it as much as I could but definitely more than emmets (tourists).

Used to live in a house right on the sea front. It was dangerous for much of the year and packed in summer. We used to take DD out for a 5 minute pony ride most w/e the ponies were there, other than that probably played on it/walked on it once a month. In the summer it was nicer to have a paddling pool in the garden out of the way of the visitors' dog poo and rubbish.

Can you tell i thought it was overrated?

Hmmm forgot it would be busy alot too.

When on holidays i love walking along the beach of an evening. But then i don't live there so....

My Mum lives by a beach, and walks most days. My B and SIL are within easy reach and their kids never tire of beach activities, summer or winter. (it's rural rather than resort-like). Whenever I visit my Mum I alsways go on different beach walks.

It's lovely being able to go there whenever you like but you do start taking it for granted and forgetting its there.

We live a 15 minute walk from the beach and go there occasionally at weekends (I prefer to go inland to the New Forest). When we have visitors we go for a walk along the coast but generally we dont bother. It is too cold and windy in the winter and crowded with tourists in the summer. Also loads of dogs running about and ds is terrified of them.

We live near the sea, not close enough to walk but 5-10 mins in the car or bus. I love it, but certainly don't go often enough. I grew up 'within reach' of the sea, but lived away for 16 yrs, and I love being near again.

When we were landlocked we would holiday at the seaside, and once a year have a special daytrip to the beach. What I love about being here is being able to go the beach in winter for a run around or to fly kites just for 10 minutes or so. I adore the space, and the majesty of the sea.

(We live on a peninsula, so there are loads of different types of beaches all around, but it's certainly not what you would call touristy.)

I live 2 min walk from the beach - can see it from my bedroom window - and we're always at the beach. Infact we were up there this morning

I reckon we go more or less every day during the summer holidays apart from when we're in France. This last week we've been 5 times.

I think the reason I go so often is that the beach local to me is not one that's used by all the holidaymakers/day trippers - they tend to go down towards the Pier nearer the town - I NEVER go down there during the summer - it's a nightmare!

I also go on my own when kids are at school/nursery either for a walk or I cycle along the Promenade.

I do - it's one of the best things about living in Brighton.
We go a lot - not every day - but to the less touristy ends of the beach. In winter we walk and fly kites. We can get down there very early in the summer before the day tripping crowds appear, then go home for lunch.
But we also have great parks and the Downs, so we're spoilt for things to do outside.

I grew up on a tiny island, right beside lots of beautiful, empty beaches. We spent all our time on the beach - in winter or summer (that and horse-riding).

However, if I lived by a beach somewhere touristy I probably wouldn't go half as much.

Other than the obvious place (cornwall, devon, e.t.c) where else is coastal ??

Well, I'm in Essex, - then you've got Norfolk (beautiful beaches), Sussex, Dorset, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Suffolk etc etc - thinking off the top of my head

I grew up minutes from the sea in Sussex. Have to say we rarely went to the beach as kids. It was shingle, busy in summer, despite not being all that touristy then, and water not all that clean as there was a harbour nearby. Also it was rarely warm enough to swim in the sea as the water remained chilly even in summer. Perhaps I would have used it more now I have kids but had to cross a busy road to get there although large park with playareas and things like mini golf and promenade to play on when you get there. Parking on a sunny summer's day was a nightmare.

Still miss the smell of the sea although it is almost 20 years since I lived by the coast.

We've just been away for a week and it's the first thing I noticed! It's where the flower shop used to be. It's a cafe / deli. I must sound bonkers.....

no that is fab!My dp and I thought of opening one last year.At the moment we live above a shop and we applied to see if the lease was for sale but it wasn't and now we have sold our flat anyway.I am so excited there is somewhere for a coffee!Do your kids go to a local school?
