But why do people pick up on it on here? Is it the same on other online forums?

How is Peter now misdee? haven't managed to catch up yet. I don't often post on your threads as i don't know what i can say but do often think of you and your family x

SherlockLGJ · 07/10/2006 21:27

No........

But some people, we know the essence of and love regardless, and some are just plain mighty moral and annoying.

Mercy · 07/10/2006 21:27

I am SOOOO glad someone else bought this up.

I cannot spell to save my life, couple this with my appauling typing and you end up with the most ridiculouse posts sometimes.

but as long as you can understand what im getting at who care's? ...right?

misdee · 07/10/2006 21:28

I think its just nasty sometimes the way people get pulled up on their spellings on here.

Its full moon tonight isn't it?

I was thinking exactly the same thing Misdee. I notice that poor spelling is frequently pointed out when a thread is going belly up. It is used a fuel for the fire to further antagonise an already irrate poster. Personally I find it extremely rude and condescending.

QuootieSpookypie · 07/10/2006 21:29

its the feeling of supiriority (sp??)

I do the same at DH in an arguement If he calls me something, I say "oh, you cant even spell it", or ask him to spell it!

I can totally cope with spelling mistakes and typos, in moderation. I'm sure I make loads, I am not a perfect speller by any means.

But I can't cope with posts without punctuation, capital letters, and paragraphs. They're really hard to read, and I'm afraid they do prejudice me against the poster. Either she doesn't know how to write legibly, or she can't be bothered.

(As ever, the fishy one is exempt.)

misdee · 07/10/2006 21:33

yum.

I actually think spelling and grammar are quite important and it does annoy me when people get it wrong. However, I would never point out someone's shortcomings in this regard. Very rude.
