I mentioned in previous thread that if any one wanted to meet for a coffee/tea first I would be happy to.
I get the impression that the burketeers are all definitely meeting up first and arriving en-masse in a largish group and that they are in contact with the event organiser to try to arrange to either have a card or something given to Tom or to arrange to be able to present it to him themselves. Not sure but there are vague murmurs about it.
Personally, I would prefer to arrive either with a smaller group or solo to avoid being marked out as 'those Tom fans over there.' It is after all not actually a 'Tom' meet and greet event and there will be other readers there. I would hate to be part of any fan thing which detracted from the reason behind the event or which might make Tom feel uncomfortable or feel that his presence has overshadowed the rest of the evening. It could discourage him from reading at future events for the charity.
Yes, I am going because I would like to hear him reading and it will be interesting to see what he is like in person and not dressed up as a musketeer on my TV but I also accept that it is not an event based around him but is something he cares about enough to support.
If it were a 'Tom' event, or a Muskie promo - now that would be a whole different ball game!
The Viggo things were different. They were Viggo related and promoting his work rather than something he was participating in with other people to raise awareness and money for a cause. Different things in my mind.
Apologies if others don't feel quite the same or if it puts them off meeting me in the flesh which would be a shame 'cause I am pretty sure I am much more exciting than Tom !
