soph28 · 03/10/2006 20:40

you all seem to know a lot about this modelling thing. My ds is 18mth and everyone says I should look into this business. Any tips or advice as to what to do/where to start, also we live in Scotland.

mimi1uk · 03/10/2006 20:54

Quadrofiendia- i meant loving parent as in, we all think our childrens a re wonderfull etc, and they are preying on that part

ellesmum · 03/10/2006 20:58

hi soph28 - welcome to the thread, i am based in london so am not familiar with any agencies in scotland, but i would reaserch into your local agencies (on childmodelling.net, they have a list of all good agencies in the country so u may find some that are local to you on there).

then i would send in 2-3 snap shots of your son, with his height and size clothing and take it from there.

mysonsmummy.my ds is 8 and dd is 10.up until ds started modelling, telling school wasnt a problem as dd were in school holidays or after school.the fisrt job ds did this term he was off with a hospital appointment anyway.then i found out a little girl in his class had time off for castings for a dancing show.i spoke to the headmaster and he said it would be ok if it wasnt ever week and just the odd hour.i am glad i asked as he was quite nice about it.

ellesmum · 03/10/2006 21:01

i dont really think there are any real finalists in the BI comp as when someone drops out they just fill the space, why cant they just go ahead with the original finalists and if people drop out then so be it! dosnt make sense 2 me!

soph28 · 03/10/2006 21:13

he ellesmum, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a go and let you know how we get on!

mimi1uk · 03/10/2006 21:13

Hi everyone,

Hope that everyone is well. Looks like everyone has been busy on the modelling front!!

Its been quite for my DD and im not really expecting her to get much work from Jan onwards so hopefully we might get a few more bits for spring/summer before then.

The John Lewis brouchure should be out so im so excited I hope that they use her pics.

Good Luck to those waiting on Littlewoods, I have loved both the shoots we have done with them. Good Luck to all those with other jobs/castings.

Take Care

hi im so excited! elle's first job with kokobino website is now up and running! she is on the home page with a dark pink cashmere cardi on and features on other parts of the website, have a look! the website is www.kokobino.com !!!!

lanismum · 03/10/2006 22:59

elles, just tried to have a look, but cant find the site?

ellesmum · 03/10/2006 23:11

it's www.kokobino.com, if not ive posted some of the pics from website onto cm net!

bluetiger · 03/10/2006 23:20

lanismum · 03/10/2006 23:20

still cant get onto the site, prob me being dim, but i looked on cm.net, wow they are lovely, i love the pink jacket thingy, they are great pics, well done you must be so proud!

ellesmum · 03/10/2006 23:26

thanks, cant believe its actually her!!!! i am very proud mummy lainismum- i think the website has just launched so might be slow to up load make sure the spelling is right

housemum · 03/10/2006 23:31

Ellesmum - wow, she is sooo gorgeous. But i wish I hadn't looked at the website! - when i saw designer knitwear I thought it would be knitted stuff to buy (ie out of my budget by a long way but nice pictures!!), now I see it's kits I'm getting tempted (though am still frantically trying to finish cardi before she outgrows it plus a pair of slippers...). The pink merino coat looks wonderful on Elle - OK so £32 is a lot but it's a hobby as well as the finished item...

housemum · 03/10/2006 23:33

OK - my bank balance is safe - size is up to 4 years old, given that she is so tall (looks great but pants for being a model at this age!) and I am so slow at knitting that'd be a non-starter...

lanismum · 03/10/2006 23:34

well i can safely say ill never send lani out in something i had knitted, that would just be cruel everyone has a talent, mine, is not knitting.............................

lanismum · 03/10/2006 23:35
ellesmum · 03/10/2006 23:38

im so glad u are still up so i can share my excitment with someone!!!! i wouldnt even attempt to knit that coat myself

housemum · 03/10/2006 23:40

Not sure how I managed to learn to knit. My mum used to send me to school in hand-knitted cardigans (OK so that gives away that I was a kid in the 1970's!) Trouble was, they just got bigger every time they were washed - I swear the one i had at Junior school would fit me now! DD1 stopped wearing anything knitted by me when she was 6 - not that I couldn't have persuaded her a little longer, but I haven't the patience to try anything too big! I have a large storage box of things to finish one day, like the cross-stitch cot cover started in 1992 for DD1, a bit more done in 2002 for DD2 - maybe will be finished when one of them has children themselves!

housemum · 03/10/2006 23:43

It's just great when you see your LO in print for the first time - Georgie's was the Mini Boden ctalogue and I had to get all my friends to order one so we had tons of them! Last year the woman in Ottakars gave me a strange look when I ordered 5 copies of the DK book that she was in (one for Mum, M-I-L, keep-for-best, Georgie's copy, copy for DD1 who wanted one..)

educatingrita · 04/10/2006 08:50
