I had one last night, here it is reproduced in all its glory - quite shocked really!

"hi its dem my mum has just bakhanded me acros da face bcos i piked up da fone afta she grbbd it im cryin and lookin at beta days i just want fings 2 b relaxd luv uso much u an afriend wiv a beard are keepin me goin luv u xxxxx"

quite sad isn't it? I replied saying they sent to the wrong phone so they'd know the person they 'luv' wasn't ignoring them.

did you see this yesterday!

lorraine kelly's editor resigns

Beetroot · 26/09/2006 12:31

oh gawd Jools i wonder if it is someone you know? especially as it is likely to have come from an address book?

My niece sent me one bitching about her dad (my b) once Meant to send to a mate!

NomDePlume · 26/09/2006 12:31

Lol (swful picture of LK though)

That one is pretty sad Jools. What do they mean by 'a friend wiv a beard', so you think ?

NomDePlume · 26/09/2006 12:32

do you think.

Beetroot · 26/09/2006 12:33

is she talking about, simply a friedn with a beard?

Carmenere · 26/09/2006 12:34

I got a quite dirty text from a drunk ex that was obviously supposed to go to his current gf who had similiar initials to me{grin] Oh how I enjoyed replying to that one

nailpolish · 26/09/2006 12:35

omg

back in the days before mobile phones, when i was yf&s, i slept with a mates bf

i wrote a letter to friend (as i did every week, was too broke to phone) and a saucy one to her bf

i put the wrong letters in the wrong envelopes

fattiemumma · 26/09/2006 12:35

Poor love.

I wouldn't be overly concerned as it sounds like atypical teenager who has fallen out with mum, the back hander comment is a little unsettling but it sounds like it is quite a rare occurance as she felt the need to mention it. those who are frequantly hit see it as normal so don't mention it.

nailpolish · 26/09/2006 12:36

jools if you still have the no. i think you should send a message asking if they are alright

Joolstoo · 26/09/2006 12:38

no, I don't think I know them!

it arrived as a number I didn't recognise and not a name from my phonebook. Also I don't know anyone who talks like that or uses text speak.

the friend with a beard thing is weird - like code!

Maybe you have intercepted something from the Axis of Evil ?!

Joolstoo · 26/09/2006 12:39

np - I replied last night, as I said, so they'd know the message had gone to the wrong place - I posted it this morning then deleted it, so I can't call them!

HappyDaddy · 26/09/2006 12:45

I got one recently saying "I really wanna f* you", alas it was sent to me in error.

Gobbledigook · 26/09/2006 18:16

I NEVER send saucy texts to dh as my brother is next one down in the address book - can you imagine?!

Gingerbear · 26/09/2006 18:18

I keep getting one from a bloke in Malaysia, asking me if I am enjoying life in the UK, and if I am coming back to Malaysia cos he misses me!

misdee · 26/09/2006 18:21

i keep getting voice mails for another person, it was their gran the other day lol. patsy they are called.

my mate andy sent me one the other day, it was scary, a picture of me from about 6years ago [shudder]

Miriam2 · 26/09/2006 18:39

I've had two, one I suspect from a granny saying 'best of luck at university, we are proud of you' (Awwww) and another saying someone or other wasn't well and would I (they) phone? I did suspect the the latter wasn't genuine, I mean why would a misdirected one be anything other than boring....like, 'me2' 'ok' and c u later' which most of my real ones are! Don't dare send saucy ones either, would fret too much about it afterwards!

When I was pregnant, I sent my DDs father the dirtiest text message you could ever ever imagine

And sent it to my 13 year old cousin, his name was next down the list in my phone book

Nothing has ever been said but I still cringe at the though

whoopsfallenoveragain · 26/09/2006 19:25

But what would you do if you sent one in error to someone you hadn't spoken to in ages (I know I really should clear my contacts out) and they replied asking who it was do you reply saying who you are or ignore it?

textwhoops · 26/09/2006 19:58

I've changed name because I've told this story before elsewhere.

Dh once got a text going into great (sexually explicit) detail about what the sender would like to do to him next time they say him. It took him by suprise at first and then showed his colleagues at work, the general consensus being that he should phone back for a laugh.

So he phoned, a man answered and dh said - I believe you wanted a shag?

Stunned silence, then 'You what?'

Dh says- well you've just sent me a text saying you want a shag.....

Man demands to know exactly what text said so dh tells him.

Mans 16yr old daughter who borrowed phone to text boyfriend is now in seeeeeeeeerious trouble.

textwhoops · 26/09/2006 19:59

'next time they saw him'

StrawberryMoon · 26/09/2006 20:02

i once texted friend about other friend saying she should come clean about her affiar as no one is falling for her lies..thankfully finished it off by putting maybe i havent been a good friend to her as she hasnt felt able to confide in me...then sent it to friend having affair instead of friend i was gossiping with!!..ooohhh that WAS a tricky one!

poppiesinaline · 26/09/2006 20:03

textwhoops

My friend once sent a text message to her mum - which she was meant to send to me - the text was slagging off her mum saying what a PITA she is . Her land line rang immediately with her mother on it demanding to know what was going on

Ellaroo · 26/09/2006 20:14

Surely 'friend with a beard' is Jesus/God??? (I've heard children refer to him as that before).
