that would be great, i have my piccies but not so brave to post them on here! Can't beleive i posted the wrong price of my op, i wish it only cost what i had said, forgot to add another thousand on to it! Where are you having yours done?

buktus · 01/10/2006 20:52

Kidstrack · 02/10/2006 18:41

yes def with loose drawstring not elastic hugging ones, you'll be sore up to your ribcage so nice soft cotton top too, and big knickers but you'll know that anyway with c/s! I'm so excited for you!

Kidstrack · 02/10/2006 18:44

sorry mean't to say start taking arnica pillules from boots 30c, about 3days before your op and continue up to a week after the op, would you beleive i had no bruising whatsoever and healed very well, consultant couldn't beleive not one bruise, he did say he was gentle

buktus · 02/10/2006 21:29

thanks for the tips anymore feel free to let me know, is it hard to shower and how long before you can have sex

OP posts:
Kidstrack · 03/10/2006 17:06

lol at sex!!!! Whats that!(think it was about 9wks) No showers for the first 2 weeks as you won't be able to stand up-right for about 2weeks, baths are fine, i waited 4 days before fully immersing my self in the water, i also took all the dressing off and left the scar bare to heal and sprayed Betadine dry spray(iodine spray) twice daily. All hospitals consultants are different they may tell you to do this and they may tell you to keep a dressing on it, i was gave thick wound pads to put aginst it so that my trousers wouldn't rub off it.

buktus · 03/10/2006 20:23

have you had a cs before

Hi Buktus.
i am so excited for you!
As you know I have also had a tummy tuck.
You'll be fine, you've been given good advice and I don't think there's anything else to add.

OOOOO-nearly forgot. Watch out for constipation after the op. The painkillers gave me horrible constipation afterwards.

Good luck. I'll be watching out to see how you get on!

Kidstrack · 04/10/2006 12:49

Yes Buktus, it was 7yrs ago now and it was hell, had a VBAC 3yrs ago and it was a dream. Pain factor as you have had a few c/s you will be used to the pain(but this is a totally diff pain), i too have quite a high pain threshold, the worst bit for me was the muscle pain because its stitched back together and the other pain that was bad but only lasted a few minutes was the drains being removed on the 2nd day! You will sail through it, and everyone copes differently with the pain!

Kidstrack · 04/10/2006 12:56

shrimp that happened to me, but they were giving me the painkillers and that horrible stuff to drink also, think its the codeine that blocks you up!

buktus · 04/10/2006 13:49

i want to hear all these things but am now thinking aaggghhh but then i open up the next book and look at all the jeans and remember that i will be able to wear jeans again normally, just over 4 weeks now i have to see the surgeon again in 2 weeks time, its all i can think about at the mo, but dh was not impressed with the 9 week subject, lol, (tough)

OP posts:
buktus · 04/10/2006 13:50

what pain killers do you get given

OP posts:
Kidstrack · 05/10/2006 14:39

i honestly forget what they were called, maybe shrimp can remember, i would know them if someone said it, all i can say is that they work and they made me really sleepy too, which was actually a good thing, as it took away some of the hours during the day while you lie in the hosp bed.

buktus · 05/10/2006 19:16

dihydracodeine, diclofenac ?

OP posts:
theshrimp · 06/10/2006 09:49

Hello, sorry , been away from the pc!
They gave me Oramorph directly after the op, which i guess from the name contains morphine. i had a few doses of this, one I remember they gave me when they took the drains out. i liked Oramorph, it made me really woozy and I quite enjoyed the feeling!
i do know that morphine can block you up and also the fact that you are not very mobile and eating small amounts makes it worse.
I can't remember what they gave me to take home. It was "Co" something. Codeine gives you constipation too.
As you will need painkillers,if I were you, i would get some laxatives in the house, just in case. Hope this helps!

Kidstrack · 06/10/2006 14:55

think it was what shrimp said "Co" something or other, i woke up and had the Pac with morphine and just pressed it whenever i needed pain relief but i was also very sick with it, which caused a lot of pain in my abdomen so they removed it, i then just used the 2 types of pain killer think one was an anti-inflami one. Its getting closer! You should do a diary there was some interest when i had mine done and i just posted before and after the op!

buktus · 06/10/2006 20:36

did you do an entry every day orjust nearer to the time of op, they said i would have the morphine where you press the button, i just hope they find a stronger painkiller than the tablet ones i have been taking at the mo for my scar as they aren working very well now after being on them so long

Kidstrack · 07/10/2006 11:55

hi buktus, i just posted on here when i was about to have it done and then i posted after i had it done, you should do a diary of your pre appointments like visiting the doc and then your first hosp app etc and all the other info and stuff and post it on here(new thread), there will prob be quite a few mums interested as they too will have had thought about it! i know that when i posted there was quite a few interested but they were still going to have more children!

theshrimp · 07/10/2006 22:44

I think they gave me an anti sickness with the oramorph so i wasn't sick.
kidstrack-you had a rough old time if you were being sick too!

Kidstrack · 08/10/2006 10:58

yeah shrimp it wasn't nice, you know how sore your tummy is and then the sickness on top of it, think also i had a reaction to the anathstetic, but i knew that would happen anyway as it has done in previous operations that i have had! Don't go worrying now that i 've posted that buktus as i have always had a problem with anathstetic, you will be absolutely fine! i don't want to scare you

buktus · 08/10/2006 13:04

i have had generals before and never had a problem so i am hoping it will be lik this again, trying to organise the school runs and stuff like that i have to phone up this week so they can order the corsets . I had really bad flu when i had my last section, coughing and sneezing everywhere made it feel like i was going to explode ny stiches, i suppose i have this sick thung to look forward to, hey its all worth it

Jenn1225 · 09/10/2006 15:11

Hi, Just some pre-op advice. I am nine days post op. Start on stool softners or a mild laxative the week before surgery and start as soon as possible on any excercises for your lower back. These have been my worst problems. I can also say, I have had two c-sections and this is different. Plan on more down time.

buktus · 09/10/2006 20:11

are you pleased with the resuls so far jenn - why lower back exercises?

OP posts:
lorna3586 · 09/10/2006 20:39

buktus I havnt had a cs or tummy tuck but when i had my apendics out the painkillers gave me really bad constipation, so bad that when i tried to go i tore my...you know...whole... and they were proberbly alot milder than what you will be given. So like everyone is telling you being very prepaired for this because it will happen. I think what jenn said was very wise start taking laxatives before the op as they take about 3days to properly start working that way you might not even get constipation. Oh and make sure its the one that softens your stools not just senna beacause there almost like rocks im not even joking its so painful and uncomfortable. Sorry to be so graphic and discusting.....

Kidstrack · 11/10/2006 10:49

buktus i personally wouldn't start taking a laxative or any other softer before the operation as you could be left with a good dose of the runs if you start taking pre-op, speak to your consultant and he will give you something to take after the operation, remember your bowels don't move for about 2days after an op anyway
