Somebody I know does 2 hours of housework per day,including ironing.

Do you think that's too much?

How much do you do everyday?
Do you hoover everyday?

Somedays do you do none?
And what sort of housework do you do everyday.

Some days I do none,apart from the usual washing up sort.

I do 10/15 mins a day (and that's too much!)

I hoover every day, usually at least a load of washing each day, I only dust when people are coming or when it gets so high I trip over it
whichever is the earlier.

I iron when I feel like it, I cook every day (but dh washes up)

Stuff 2 hours a day!! Dust, hoover and get the washing done once a week, dp cooks, I wash up. I live with a lovely Guardian reader type person so everything is split down the middle (bless).

God no. I only do about half hour, which is usually just tidying up after the kids. I hoover as little as poss as ds hates the hoover. Can't remember the last time i polished.
I know i should do more but because of the overcrowding it never looks tidy anyway. Once we move i will of course do housework all day every day

In my head i do. In reality, not a chance.

I prefer the matt effect dust gives anyway.

I must lead a good life, I'm lucky if mine adds upto 2 hours a week! Hoover once a week but will 'reluctantly' get it for a quick once around out if it needs it which thankfully it doesn't too often. Bathrooms are given full works once a week which doesn't take too long. change our bed one week and ds's the next. And very thankfully have a dishwasher which everything including pots and pans, grill pan, microwave turntable and anything else that will fit in. Do laundry when required, which is probably every other day, we also have a tumble dryer which cuts down on ironing. Crickey I sound like a right lazy bones.

Seems like a lot. Suppose I would need to do more if we were home more. ie because I work 3 days and DS is nursery the house gets much less messy on those days.

Probably do at least two hours on a Monday because thats my cleaning day but much less on other days.

Hoover upstairs and dining room (rarely used) once a week. Hoover living room/kitchen/hall/utility room between one and three times a week. Mostly once or twice.

Do ironing in evenings (shared with DH) while watching TV. 20-30 mins 3-4 times a week.

Definitely some days do none. Am currently 32 weeks pregnant and still working so have let things go quite a bit.

I despise housework. I do a quick tidy every morning and stick all the dishes in the sink to do later while i am cooking ds's dinner.

I did have a routine where I was going to do a room a day and that worked well for one week. We dont have carpets......just stone floors and they are a bitch to clean so I dont do them often! I vacuum the one rug we have when it needs it and if people are coming over!!

I am good at keeping up with the washing and do a load every other day but that is about it!!

I NEED a cleaner!!

I do a hell of alot now my cleaners gone.

3/4 loads of washing and at least an hours housework - esp if you include my permanet state of wiping!

I have a rota - today is the kitchen - tomeorrow bathrooms and wash towels

coddy why has your cleaner gone? Can you get another, an hour a day sounds like a lot of hard work esp with 3 kids to look after

No way. 2 hours a day is a lot I think. I hav a cleaner now I am pregnant, but normally I try to clean a room a day and my children help me. I would say between 30-60 minutes a day.

Does this someone you know have any kids (that she talks to and plays with?)

I'm the same as you Layla, somedays just enough to keep things vaguely sanitary other days a bit more. And what do I do when DS1 is at nursery 3 mornings a week and DS2 is having a 40 minute nap ..... housework

2 hours! Well, I could probably manage it if I didn't come here but why ever would I do that?! I reckon I do 15 mins in the morning, which includes loading/unloading dishwasher, and about the same in the afternoon. The afternoon bit's mainly picking things up though to go in the dishwasher. But I do live in a tip and we're happy that way Do I hoover every day? Good lord No! Yes, I have many days where I do nothing or very little.

I like cleaning altho it is a juggling act at the mo I must say, am really stretched for time woith Loads of sch governors stuiff to do ( 5 appointments to make) and the JP training coming up int he summer presumably

It depends for me, some days i can go mad and get dd cleaning too, then other days i think,'sod it', go out all day with dd and realise that, the house looks exactly the same as if i'd cleaned all day,(if you see what i mean!)

hoovering is abiit like mowing the lawn, even if you havent tidied it makes the place look better

Oh and squirt pledge in the air befor people arrive!

OK Please don't laugh but I checked my favourite database to find out the following...

Household chores can include cooking as well as cleaning, but it doesn't take into account coming on MN

What is worse the mag I work on the average reader spends over 3 hrs A DAY.

I suppose I spend about 45 mins in the morning putting washing on, emptying dishwashers, tidying up, making breakfast etc. All done whilst I am getting dressed, getting 2 kids dressed and fed, so actually 'household chores' take up about 30 mins.

Evening about and hour and a bit all told, including cooking, stacking dishwasher wiping kitchen, emptying washing machine or folding from tumble, tidying kids stuff away, making packed lunch etc.

Weekends I do a big clean and do all the washing so it is usually 2 -3 hrs (on and off throughout the day) or pure cleaning time. If you add cooking and everything it certainly means 3 - 4 hrs at least.

Doesn't take long to add up really, and I don't iron EVER, I have a dishwasher and tumble, I don't have to cook for my kids as they get home having eaten, and I only clean once a week

Hmm - read this thread earlier on, thaught thats 14hours a week - laughed and lurked on...
Just come back to it and after reading crunchies thread maybe I do....or even more.
If I didn't work P't I may do even more, so here is how sad I am:
Monday: Kitchen, bathroom, Loo, change beds, dust 4 bedrooms, landing(s) and 1 filght of stairs. 21/2 hours usually
Friday: Kitchen, Bathroom, Loo, Dust and clean Breakfast room, living room, family room, dining room 9 3 hrs usually).
Saturday: DH hoovers whole of 3 story house so very very well - he agreed to do it when cleaner went Awol and I was 81/2 months pregnant and has kept it up ever since. I am thinking of renting him out if anyone is interested....
Every day I do at least one load of washing, one load of dishwasher, cook every evening meal, quick tidy, do packed lunches - 1 hour?
I make that 12 and a half hours and I am totally flabbergasted....
Don't iron as I have an ironing lady who is worth her weight in gold....
