files her nails whilst looking on at her children assaulting each other, only then to slip a dvd in and leave them engrossed in the evil box.

quite surprising

Yes, that is me! Except for the nail filing - they are in bits and the children assaulting eachother (they are only 2.10 and 6 months!).

I have it delivered every day and make no apologies for it! My best friend thinks it is the most hideous paper and berates me constantly for my devotion to it. I cringe and disagree with lots of stuff in it but I also love it for lots of the articles it publishes.

I am a very open minded, non racist, non bigotted person who sees everybodies side in a disagreement. I do not recognise myself in the descriptions people generally attribute to the typical daily mail reader. Maybe everyone thinks that!!!!

psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 00:31

and where did you find that wonderful description then????

I read the daily mail, because I like it, and was bought up on it too in honesty, but that is rather a wild statement.

I don't look on while my kiddies are assulting each other....I send them to the garden so I don't have to watch....meaning that the dvd anology doen't then come into play.

tis not an evil box tho....tis a wonderful thing that calms us all down and gives me peace when needed, and gives them a break from dancing and homework!

so there[pokes tongue out emoticon]

Ags · 05/08/2006 00:42

Go psycho! So glad someone else reads it. Thought I would be pilloried and alone. May still be pilloried but at least, not alone!

Tortington · 05/08/2006 00:44

their very own advert

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 00:50

nope....not alone.

i really don't get the thing about the daily mail tho....genuinely don't get it. its not like reading the star or similar is it now!

yes, some stuff can be construed as being crap, but some stuff is also interesting and to be honest I would say keeping up with the news is a good thing!!!

and surely too.....there is a general consensus that many journalists don't write the entire truth anyhow, or at least twist it to make for interesting headlines. isn't that true of all papers???? and going on some of the stuff in the time-on-line this week, then some of their comlumns is laughable!!!

i really do hate it tho when people are supposed be a 'type' just going on what paper they read!!!

and I now the first post was tongue in cheek, but some people actually take statements like that as gospel.

anyhow....am ranting and am probably not needing to at all, which means big apologies most likely in the morning.

psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 00:51

seriously....you got this from their very own advert!!!!!?????

where did you see it????

Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:02

ummm... on the evil box!

OP posts:
Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:05

no really i think it gives a good overview of a persons taste.

i dont read newpapers. so unfortunatley i can judge you on the paper you read but you can't judge me. you can judge me on not reading a paper - dont know what that means.

daily mail is tory spouting pious shite(imo). so interesting to see thier advert over the lat couple of days

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 01:08

ah...am shocked!!

actually no....am more shocked at me not having seen it.

and lol at you watching the evil box then.

got a reason now to wathc out for the adverts.

and huge apologies if it felt like i was having a go too.....the seem to be too many people about who look at others with disdain bacuse of what you read/eat/wear.....

feel all shameful now, and I thought I might too

Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:13

plase dont apologise - makes a change no one really does have a go at me anymore

OP posts:
Ags · 05/08/2006 01:14

Psycho chill. Don't think what you said could be construed as offensive at all.

Custardo that is an amazingly bad advert but also makes me lol because one of my very good friends with 3 boisterous boys could fit that profile almost exactly and she was a dm devotee also. She has it delivered every morning and if she was a victorian lady, that would be the point at which she would banish her children to the nanny!

Interested also if you don't read newspapers how you know what the dm is like? Your opinion is very representative of most peoples but just interested as to how you formed it. Honestly not having a go but just interested.

Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:16

ahh yes, i dont BUY newspapers.

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 01:18

do you steal them then????

actually I'll assume then that you read the on-line ones....am I right???

Ags · 05/08/2006 01:20

library? Cafe Nero? Come on, put us out of our misery!

And tell us which ones do you READ then!

Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:22

sometimes - sometimes they are free on the train, however on the train is not always a good idea as i often want to laugh out loud incredulously or i really do have a habit of talking to myself and dont want to catchmyself saying " what a load of fucking tosh" on the thameslink at 7.30 but then i think most of them are a load of old shite - but they seem to push mre than most a moral fabric of society is missing becuase we dont wear print dresses and look after kids full time - stuff.( imo)

OP posts:
Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:23

i read the guardian online - on jobs day!

OP posts:
Ags · 05/08/2006 01:24

Fair enough.

psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 01:25

pmsl at the thought of you talking to yourself on the train....can imagine the odd looks, especially if you started yelling at the paper!!!

Tortington · 05/08/2006 01:27

i know - am too strange - i talk to jeremy vine too when i ma in my car.

OP posts:
Ags · 05/08/2006 01:30

Is this the time to mention that I am a major Radio 4 freak also?! Jeremy Vine is way too out there for my liking. Womans Hour and The Archers, now you're talking!

You may think I am joking but afraid not. Now I really am fitting the DM criteria!!!!!

psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 01:37

ooh no...I listen to wave105. can't be doing with other radio staions am afraid, but then tis mainly cos I listen for the music rather than anything else. that and the road reports.

i like the fact that you talk to the radio though....am wondering what it would be like to be a fly on the wall in your house and listening to the snippets you would come out with.

Ags · 05/08/2006 01:41

Just saw the picture of your children on the member profile topic. They are totally gorgeous. Such a lovely photo.

psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 01:48

thankyou. I think so, but then I should.

I love that photo....captures them all really well I think. maybe not Max at his best, but he was still so am not complaining

Tortington · 05/08/2006 23:14

i listen to wave 105 ...... ooooh freaky. you live no to far from me then!

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 05/08/2006 23:33

I live in bournemouth.....where do you live....like you say, can't be that far if we both get the same radio station
