it's the build up that's scary, the unseen.

Gobbledigook · 01/08/2006 23:00

You've just reminded me a friend has sent me 'Hostel' to watch which is apparently 'well' scary!

Enid · 01/08/2006 23:01

hostel looks sick

Hostel's just sick. Like Quentin Tarantino.

Not as sick as that Peter Greenaway personnage, but vile sick.

Gobbledigook · 01/08/2006 23:02

Does it? I've not seen any trailers or anything - friend is a film buff and says it's good but I don't know what it's about (presumably a hostel - durrr!)

Enid · 01/08/2006 23:02

God, what's this - gang up on gobbledigook night?!

southeastastra · 01/08/2006 23:03

do you like picnic at hanging rock gobbledigook?

southeastastra · 01/08/2006 23:04

that's scary

expatinscotland · 01/08/2006 23:08

Put it on, GDG, but don't feel bad if you're so disgusted you just switch it off.

Then again, I don't 'get' Quentin Tarantino - I don't see what's 'great' about him. All his films just strike me as lazy, sloppy and unoriginal. A play on the martial arts greats of old w/none of the thought process or philosophy, excepting Jackie Brown.

His films are saved by his casting directors.

Just my opinion, though.

Not looked at the link, may look at it in the morning, scary icky things freak me out especially before bed. might even get dh to vet it before I take a look!

Han4Dan · 01/08/2006 23:12

ewwwwwwwww that's horrible i wouldn't want my chlidren to see that scare them half to death.

7up · 01/08/2006 23:12

is the advert shown on U certificates then? my eldest 11.5years would be nagging me to let him go and see it! bit gorey for little ones though, although if its only a quick glimpse and no fuss made about it theyd probably forget it hopefully anway

olivia35 · 01/08/2006 23:18

Agree with www completely - comedy gruesomes don't phaze me, magazines like Nuts, however, I do find offensive.

But it's probably not about what offends you as a parent - you just can't predict what will upset kids. 2 year old ds would probably find that poster funny - OTOH, his aunt bought him a battery-operated bubble machine for his birthday & he reacted to that by crying ('a NOISE mummy! A NOISE!)

A tricky one. I suppose I think that if your child was upset by it, you should complain - if enough children are upset by it, the cinema will presumably remove it rather than alienate all that lovely revenue.
