Yet somehow a mooncup is gross to some of you?

Why?

OP posts:
LieselVonTrapp · 28/07/2006 23:15

Buckets - yes I did, I wont go into details but I cant do it. That advert link is very effective though, do you know where I can get shoes like that?
Mrs Shadenfraude - PMSL, thats a good reason for getting a mooncup.

1Baby1Bump · 28/07/2006 23:16

surely if a mooncup fell out it would be much much worse?!

eew!

LieselVonTrapp · 28/07/2006 23:29

Baby Bump
hahahahaha that reminds me of that scene in The Shining.

suzywong · 29/07/2006 00:36

Well, after my first over nighter with my Mooncup I have to report ....it does not slosh, nor leak nor overflow, nor tip out. And it's SUCH a relief not to have to do the whole unwrapping, wrapping up, binning palava.

There was a moment when I thought I 'd lost it but I 'm sure it's a learned technique and those of you more experienced can whip it out in a jiffy.

Please tell me that part comes with time

Please?

Blu · 29/07/2006 00:41

MN must be doing no end for the mooncup trade - shouldn't MN have a button to their site and commission?

suzywong · 29/07/2006 00:46

OK quick question - ; is the stem meant to disappear or protrude slightly? Either I 've go one like a bucket or pelvic floor muscles like a steel trap.

Help?

Tortington · 29/07/2006 03:27

oh how crude.

the thought of a plastic thing up my fandooky is like wanting to try a shit butty - just to see

dejags · 29/07/2006 05:53

custardo... PSML

Suzy - where did you get yours from, do they sell them in Australia?

mytwopenceworth · 29/07/2006 06:38

well actually, i have only had about 4 periods in the last 6 years (and before that i was pregnant twice in rapid succession) so the whole period thing is a bit ick really cos its not something i am used to so if and when it ever does happen, i am all fumbly with mess everywhere - which i dont like!

as to mooncups - its like wringing out your tampons and leaving them on the radiator! no, seriously, i dont know why i had an 'ew' reation when the good ship mn raised the mooncup flag and set sail for eco-land. its probably very schoolyard and not at all what a proper grown up would feel. but all new ideas are met with resistance, human beings dislike change!!

plus it looses points for having to go in the dishwasher!

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 29/07/2006 07:39

But Liesel, on the other thread you said you'd never heard of a Mooncup and were so gobsmacked by the idea you thought it was a wind-up. I'm confused.

GeorginaA · 29/07/2006 07:58

suzy: it does get a lot easier with practise, I promise. I found the first month really hard, second month much easier, third month completely confident.

Once you're confident, trim the stem right off. You don't really need it, and to be honest only serves to tempt you to pull it out by the stem rather than break the seal properly first.

suzywong · 29/07/2006 10:03

Thanks G

I have to confess I am not really breaking the seal first, I should do that, and while I'm being graphin, it is grazing my inner curtains a tad on insertion, do you use a lube. And all Hairy Handed Lorry Drivers can F off at this point, OK?

suzywong · 29/07/2006 10:06

Dejags, they do sell them here - i can say "Here" to you now

but it was about $15 cheaper to oder from Mooncup UK

Why won't you come to Perth?

GeorginaA · 29/07/2006 10:06

Nope, break the seal first, then twist the mooncup while bearing down with your internal muscles is the easiest way to describe it. I know I've posted this on another thread recently, but about 3 years ago I wrote a mooncup review. The review is probably stuff you already know, but some of the tips/tricks readers posted afterwards you might find very useful:

The Mooncup Review

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 29/07/2006 10:06

Why are trolls always visualised as lorrydrivers? How does lurking on Mumsnet fit into a trucking schedule? Do service stations have cybercafes?

SW: wet the Mooncup under the tap, take a deep breath in and insert it while you're breathing out.

suzywong · 29/07/2006 10:08

Fabulous, thanks I shall read that

Have you seen the state of Trucker's Cabs these days? They are like bloomin' Concorde's flight deck, interweb, outerweb, teasmade, the works!

MarsLady · 29/07/2006 10:13

Now.... about this mooncup. What about sex? No not with the mooncup, but whilst wearing it?

I woke up with that question on my mind. These mooncup threads are entering my pysche!

FanjoandZooey · 29/07/2006 10:13

shhhh, whether or not you want to look at your own blood, you shouldn't be putting tampons down the toilet. Toilets are for human waste not your rubbish

suzywong · 29/07/2006 10:16

Mars, I don't think your other half's Helmet would thank you for it, i

And how much room have you got up there?

MarsLady · 29/07/2006 10:17

Just checking. I was having weird dreams last night and this question stayed in my mind lol!

shhhh · 29/07/2006 13:49

Sorry but I'm not being made to feel bad about using tampons. TBH it's my choice to do what I want with my own used tampons at home. Yes yes while out I do bin them BUT I don't find it appealing having used tampons in a bin waiting disposal and I don't even fancy the idea of carrying them about to the bin iykwim.

My choice..!!! Yes I know not eco friendly BUT I am living in 2006 and not 1906. I do my best elsewhere and thats all that matters imo.

Caligula · 29/07/2006 13:57

Sorry I think "it's my choice" is not a good argument for being anti-social.

Imagine if that were the approach of everyone who does irresponsible and anti-social stuff - spitting on the pavement, leaving rubbish in the streets, wee-ing in doorways. "It's my choice". Not very convincing, is it?

SenoraPostrophe · 29/07/2006 14:11

true for most things caligila, but I don't think the amount of paper/cotton in a few tammies really makes a difference does it?

But anyway otoh I do think it's rather pathetic to be so squeamish about a bit of blood. you can wash your hands you know.

shhhh · 29/07/2006 14:15

I didn't think this thread was about me being anti social..??!!!

I thought it was about mooncups..? I simply gave my view like many others have and I don't feel that it's anyone else business why I use them and what I do with them..!

Like I said it's freedom of choice. But to then get onto the subject of "weeing in doorways or leaving rubbish on the streets..??" WTF..??! Where did that come from.? Thing is with mn is that people have an opinion and a view and others jump on them. Simple as. I don't have a go at other mner's for what they do/don't do so I don't expect the same. Its all freedom of choice.

Sadly but in this world we can't change everyone to be thinking the same. Esp on enviromental issues.

shhhh · 29/07/2006 14:16

sp so I'm also pathetic...so nothing makes you squemish or have you got any phobias..??
