Tallgirl - think my previous post may have naswered that question now

Northerner · 04/03/2004 14:34

I for one totally understand why you did it TC. And if it means anything to you, just reading your posts on MN is enough to have educated me about DS. I have no experience of DS firsthand, and would have thought it the end of the world should I have had a child with DS. However, I now feel differently, and that's down to you!

oliveoil · 04/03/2004 14:38

Well put.

Thomcat, I haven't seen it, but I did see some of the pix and remember the one of her in her pink chair and it is beautiful, but does the other one have you or you and Dom in it too? If so, that will be the reason they used it as the main pic - nothing to do with looking more as if she has DS, I'm certain of that. They would definitely want a 'family' shot as the main image with you in it.

oliveoil · 04/03/2004 14:42

They are all gorgeous pics anyway.

Sigh, have to go now and do some work and stop hogging the thread, congrats again on a lovely article, makes a change for a positive slant.

It does have us in it aloha yes. It's not a problem but it just doesn't look that much like her and the other one does. It really doens't matter although for obvious reasons I'd rather people look and say 'ohh, look she doesn't look like she has DS does she', it would just be even more resaauring to people.

Northener - that's a lovely thing to say and I am SO happy to hear it

aloha · 04/03/2004 15:06

I know how you feel though - I'm very, very picky about pix of ds and always want him to look his most adorable. Did you get a copy of the pink chair pic?

Thomcat · 04/03/2004 15:32

I did ask her, the photographer for a copy of the one in the chair but haven't heard back, maybe something will turn up soon?

scampadoodle · 04/03/2004 15:43

Thomcat, i didn't know a mumsnetter was going to be in Eve - & didn't know anything about your situation, but I bought the mag this lunchtime for something to read. I was really touched by the article (I am 6m pg & dh & I had decided not to have an amnio; however my blood tests were ok). Your daughter is absolutely beautiful...

melsy · 04/03/2004 15:46

Oh really want to see it, I am head high in veg puree and the kitchen looks like something exploded!!So cant get to the shops right now.
Is there any way it can be scanned onto here or is there a website link??? I know pathetic, really would like to read it.

Thomcat · 04/03/2004 15:56

Ahh, thanks scampadoodle, that's very kind and may I take this opportunity to wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy and a helathy and happy baby

Melsy - i don't know how to get it on here if I scan it. Sorry hon.

melsy · 04/03/2004 15:57

carla · 04/03/2004 17:13

Thomcat · 04/03/2004 17:41

Ha not, it is me and Lottie but it's page 93 - The Ups of Downs.

How funny are you buying it and not really knowing why!!

aloha · 04/03/2004 17:51

Thomcat, I'll chase it up for you ASAP. You WILL have your picture xx

tamum · 04/03/2004 17:57

I'll get it tomorrow, and your copy, SenorA! Ooh goody, can't wait

katierocket · 04/03/2004 17:59

Oh, not read the whole thread but just read it and brought tears to my eyes - so lovely. I LOVE the pic of her on the chair - she's so gorgeous - those boots are really cute! She looks like an adorable child.

jimmychoos · 04/03/2004 18:14

tomcat - I've read it (read it before I saw your post and realised it's you) and you absolutely got the point across you wanted to make. I thought it was a great piece - thought provoking and inspiring. And Lottie is scrumptious (and you v glamorous!).

I will try and et a copy at the station before getting the train tomorrow.

LOL Melsy. You couls scan the article but if there is much text it'll not be readable. But you could just scan the pictures, and then bits of the text separate - or maybe pne of you has the original text anyway? Then just upload onto a web page and link to it from here. My scan was hosted by another MN member on her website as I didn't know where to post it otherwise.

LIZS · 04/03/2004 20:45

I've asked dh to try to pick up a copy in Jersey tomorrow - what are my chances ?

crystaltips · 04/03/2004 20:48

Just cancelled my Eve subscription - so am off to buy it tomorrow !!

By all accounts ( from what I've read here ) TC - you should be very proud of yourself and Lottie for being such wonderful media stars ....

See if Eve will give you a cut of the profits - after all the extra copies sold to MNutters !!!

carla · 04/03/2004 21:15

No time to read anything else right now - is that really a Mumsnetter? (Just 1st paragraph befoe supper)

I finally tracked one down (our local shop had stuck them on the shelf back to front so the cover wasn't visible..)

It's a beautiful article, TC you've always sounded very eloquent on MN and this was SO inspiring so thanks to you, Dom & Lottie and Aloha.
