Run around a busy beach completely naked?

I was at the beach this morning and a little girl was running about with nothing on I would have a least had knickers on her.
It kind of made me feel uncomfortable.

i would probably at least put knickers on her basicly because of all the perverts in the world i wouldnt like to think people were watching her like that.

MamaG · 26/07/2006 21:55

Sad to say, I wouldn't have let mine do that.

Such a shame it has come to this.

chipkid · 26/07/2006 21:55

this is so sad.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 26/07/2006 21:55

that's what I thought especially as not too far from there a child was abducted a couple off weeks ago - she was found quickly though

hulababy · 26/07/2006 21:56

I personally wouldn't. Not just for the strangers and onlookers issue, but also sand, suncream, burning, etc..

Xena · 26/07/2006 21:56

No I wouldn't, it is sad but a fact that you don't know what perverts are watching

Charlee · 26/07/2006 21:56

some people unfortunatly ruin it for everyone, i let my DS (22 months) run around naked but only at home or when its jsut family and close friends around

Skribble · 26/07/2006 21:57

Like to think I wouldn't care but DD keeps her knickers on, I tell her its to keep the sand out her bits, well it is partly.

harpsichordcarrier · 26/07/2006 21:58

yes, I would, although I would gently try to encourage her to keep her pants on
(dd1 is 3 btw)

moreteaanyone · 26/07/2006 21:59

I would put knickers on. I'm even paranoid in my back garden.

harpsichordcarrier · 26/07/2006 22:01

(btw I love your name whoops.....)

Bozza · 26/07/2006 22:03

My main concern would be sun.

FrannyandZooey · 26/07/2006 22:04

I think I would. I haven't got a 4 yr old dd so it's hard to say for sure. But I don't see why my children should have to be restricted because there might be perverts watching.

misdee · 26/07/2006 22:06

i probabvly would. bu8t only because i have a hard time keeping clothes on my kids.

harpsichordcarrier · 26/07/2006 22:08

god, me too misdee esp in this weather.
I am not particularly bothered about perverts but dd1 does have a large birthmark just next to her vulva and I don't like it when people stare or think she has something grim stuck there.

Feistybird · 26/07/2006 22:08

No - because of the risk of burning. I don't want to live my life pandering to the risk of perverts.

cazzybabs · 26/07/2006 22:21

Yep - Let them be innocent but only if it was late evening or early morning. Not worried about dodgy men (and women) more about the sun!

colditz · 26/07/2006 22:23

No he would have a t shirt and pants on, he has very fair skin.

singersgirl · 26/07/2006 22:24

I would. Though I have started telling DS2 who is nearly 5 that he is a bit old to run around naked. My main concern would be sunburn too.

Skribble · 26/07/2006 22:27

Mine have had t-shirts on most of the time but that is purely for sunprotection. They took them off when going right into the sea though as I didn't have a change and wanted to keep somthing dry to home in. DS 9yrs happy on the beach in his pants and t-shirt as I said they look like trunks.

lucy5 · 26/07/2006 22:27

My dd is five and I let her run around naked but she always has plenty of sun cream on.

nooka · 26/07/2006 22:28

I wouldn't let my two at 7 and 5 run around naked in this sun, as we have had sunburn issues in the past. My two nieces are big strippers though, and I wouldn't think badly of a child running around because of that. Some kids just don't like clothes, and in this heat who can blame them (although my nieces are happy to strip in winter too!)

lucy5 · 26/07/2006 22:29

My dd has always been a stripper.

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 22:30

I did

misdee · 26/07/2006 22:35

dd1(6years old and wont let people see her naked now) also has a birthmark on her bits. even now i say 'o is that apatch of eczema dd1?'
