How about a Mumsnet Wine Club?

We could have

Reccommendations in different price/country/grape categories.

Tastings, all arrange to buy the same bottle of wine and have it on the same night, compare notes.

Post any good special offers we see.

Anyone up for it?

Could have a grape of the month, everyone could try different wines of the same grape but for eg from different regions and countries and compare.

Couldnt' stomach the idea this morning ... would have got prefects badge for the MN WIne CLub last night - judging by my sterling performance to try every bottle in the restaurant

SenoraPostrophe · 29/02/2004 11:58

I'll join in when you're on the Riojas! Foreign wine v hard to come by here

CountessDracula · 29/02/2004 13:48

Well done Crystaltips!

SenoraPostrophe we could try some less well known spanish wine regions too

Come on you lot, no-one else into wine?

I'm not talking expensive stuff here!

CD, you just want to move on from virtual knees-up at the MN Bar to actuallly p*ssed mumsnetter chatting about wine online. I can't wait!!!!

SenoraPostrophe · 29/02/2004 19:18

cd - yes, but I don't know how available they are in the UK. There are lots of under-priced Navarras for example. Dp knows more (I just drink it really). I'll ask him.

BearintheBigBlueHous · 29/02/2004 19:18

Put me down for a case

gingernut · 29/02/2004 19:25

Hic! When do we start? We shall need a tipsy emoticon

CountessDracula · 29/02/2004 19:32

SenoraPostrophe, for eg here is the search for Oddbins, choose Spain and you'll see what they have.

suzywong · 29/02/2004 20:23

This is a great idea. My dh is Australian, so nearly all the wine we buy is from Oz. I'd love to find out more about wine from other countries.

Twink · 29/02/2004 22:12

Well, I've resisted all day but the big half of the Pinot Gris has now gone my way so YES I am.

CountessDracula · 01/03/2004 10:15

Just bumping this up

justiner · 01/03/2004 10:24

Good idea CD - do you want your own topic in talk for it? Maybe we could approach Oddbins; Laithwaites et al and see if they'll be sponsors...

Azure · 01/03/2004 10:26

Sounds a great idea. Internet access still not working on computer at home, but I could get DH to bring the laptop home.

CountessDracula · 01/03/2004 10:31

It could stay in recipes I guess or have it's own topic

Justine that would be great if you wanted to contact Oddbins etc. What form does their sponsorship take?

By the way I don't profess to be any great wine expert! If there are any mumsnetters that are their advice would be welcome.
