I have identifed a "type" who drive 4x4s in London, wondered if it was accurate...

I live in SW London, home of the tossy 4x4s that never see a hill or any mud.

It seems to me that these cars are often driven by teeny weeny pinstick women who are married to big rugby player type men. I think it follows that if you are an ickle bickle lollipop of a woman and you are attracted to a huge manly bear of a man that you like to be pwotected by your big man and so you feel the need for the same type of pwotection from your car.

Do you think I am right?

I mean, usually people are attracted to their own physical shape etc aren't they?

Here endeth the poisson psychology.

here's a story from one of my local rags that should bring a smile to your face

Bugsy2 · 13/07/2006 09:40

I should add that in all the cases, I've asked these people why they have their 4x4? I do it in a light-hearted way as I'm curious as to why anyone would want one - unless they are regularly going off road. I listen to their reasons & don't find any of them remotely valid.
So, if I am judgemental Coolmama, it is at least after I've given people an opportunity to justify their bizzare vehicle choice.
I am fundamentally opposed to people driving these cars in towns & cities when they have no need for them. They are dangerous to pedestrians, use too much fuel, take up more room on roads & in car parks & are just so unnecessary in the majority of cases.

There are plans to treble the congestion charge for 4x4's in London

hehe

So basically what I should take from this thread is that I should be very rich, stick-thin, blonde, highlights, french manicure, can't see over the steering wheel, with rugger husband who is short with a small penis and that I have no consideration for other people or the environment? Yup - well, you hit the nail on the head, that sounds just like me

expatinscotland · 13/07/2006 09:51

LOL, Pamina! Too right!

pooka · 13/07/2006 10:02

Can I have some stickers too? Loathe them.
Even if I have a third child would rather have teeth pulled than get one. Thing is, you get a row of 3 parking spaces and if there are these monstrosities in the outer spaces you have no hope whatsoever of parking and being able to open your doors.
I'm all right jack mentality through and through.

CountessDracula · 13/07/2006 10:05

no coolmama

you are fundamentally selfish

Agree with previous poster that judging something that actually has an impact on your own life is OK. These things guzzle petrol, are incredibly dangerous to pedestrians and other road users and take up too much space, whether they're driven by stick thin lollipop heads, nobel peace prize winners or eco-friendly vegans like Chris Martin and Gwyneth.

CountessDracula · 13/07/2006 10:08

Martin Clunes has one (used to live in same street as him) I used to GLARE at him whenever I saw him driving off with his one child, miniscule revolting little dog and wife. I mean WHY did he need one?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 13/07/2006 10:09

i hasten to add his wife isn't miniscule or revolting just his dog

round here you can guess at the people who probably drive these 4x4's without actually seeing them in one.

9/10 times you're right.

one of my friends with one said "oh, I must look like one of those tiny woman with 1 child driving around in my 4x4 with my sunnies on....."

what could I say?

nail and head comes to mind......

willow2 · 13/07/2006 11:57

My car's crap.

willow2 · 13/07/2006 11:59

Waving - do you have to walk up t'hill to get kids to school? (This is a SW14 coded question, btw. Just wondering if we have something in common.)

CountessDracula · 13/07/2006 12:02

What is wrong with your car willow?

morningpaper · 13/07/2006 12:28

suejonez · 13/07/2006 12:32

my sisters kids went to sheen mount Tutter - she liked it but its very difficult to get in isn't it? Unless you live next door or have siblings at the school already.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 13/07/2006 12:33

That is gross, MP. Do you think this will take in the UK? It's even higher and bigger than these puny 4x4s we see around.

CountessDracula · 13/07/2006 12:34

There used to be something similar to this parked by Wandsworth Park on Putney Bridge Road - anyone seen it?
