OP posts:
NomDePlume · 10/07/2006 10:52

We left a bottle of champagne and a new home card for ours.

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 10:55

well i have lots of cash going our to removal cavemen and electricion who is happily charging us a fortune to de and re- intal our kitchen stuff, as well as dp's birthday and end of term presents for teachers..so champers may be a bit pricy!..unless its champail from morrisons??!!

OP posts:
Carmenere · 10/07/2006 10:55

I'm sure that even young trendy guys with cash would appreciate a bottle of fizz!

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 10:56

he seems rather posh and particular too..does white look better or red for guys??or a 12 pack of carling?/

OP posts:
Marina · 10/07/2006 10:58

For the price of a 12 pack of Carling you should be able to get a nice red or white . Pop in to Oddbins and get their advice.
Generally Medoc or Chablis seem to be acceptable "wine gifts" in the corporate sector if the stocks of City of London Oddbins are anything to go by...

NomDePlume · 10/07/2006 11:15

Red better for men, IMO.

Cloudberries · 10/07/2006 11:43

Agree that a bottle of wine is fine - also nice to leave behind all the instructions to any appliances you are leaving and sthings like the boiler and burgler alarm if you have one, details of bin day, windowcleaner, etc

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 14:15

yeah got a folder with warranty's and user guides plus have made a list of useful numbers for him like current service suppliers as well as good takeaway flyers.. i was thinking red for a bloke too??

YellowFeathers · 10/07/2006 14:26

You leave presents !!!

We left dust and a couple of boxes

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 14:33

..im even going back to house(well tis planned anyway!) after we've moved into new house to cleana nd hoover before handing over keys..see my halo..see it!

OP posts:
YellowFeathers · 10/07/2006 14:37

Oh christ!

I swear, we must have looked like the dirtiest people ever when we moved. They shifted the sofa and not only did we find dd's missing jigsaw pieces but we were £1.01 better off!

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 15:07

im not the norm tho, house before the one were in now was not just dusty but totally vile and scummy!..a bit of dust is no prb!

OP posts:
mazzystar · 10/07/2006 15:10

Wow, what a nice thought.

We were the lucky recipients of a flea-infested carpet and several half used bottles of shampoo.

YellowFeathers · 10/07/2006 15:22

Did you move into our house Mazzystar?

mazzystar · 10/07/2006 15:27

Did you also leave some manky old tins of food, a rusty folding bicycle and several dying cheese plants? Then maybe

Rowlers · 10/07/2006 15:30

I would think any half decent bottle of wine would be much appreciated and if not, then he's not very nice anyway.
Our vendors left us a dirty house, a broken shower, a condemned boiler, broken drains fixed with a flower pot and a broken downpipe mended with a washing up bottle so I think you'd be a winner in my eyes if you did leave Morrisons Champail!!!!!

YellowFeathers · 10/07/2006 15:31

Ahh no

we took them with us

cece · 10/07/2006 15:40

Evesmama,

Your are too nice

We left a bottle of bubbly but only cava!

EvesMama · 10/07/2006 16:11

thanks rowlers
so do guys drink white wine then? dp would if he was gasping!

if its wine, ill be buying one for our agent, one for vendors agent who saved the whole sale!, one for solicitor, one for our buyer, and one for friedn whos looking after dd on moving day!!..phew, morrisons wil think im an alky drinky all that champail!

OP posts:
cece · 10/07/2006 16:16

dh only likes white - will not touch red so unfortunately I have to drink it all myself

Tommy · 10/07/2006 16:35

bloke I bought my flat from left a load of porn magazines hidden in the toilet cistern.....

I'm v impressed that you even have the time or energy to think of such things when you're moving house

mommie · 10/07/2006 16:43

we left a nice bottle of wine for our buyers and when we moved, the people who sold us their house left us some flowers. tbh, the best thing would be a list of all the best local things....ie milkman, car mechanic, doctor, dentist, restaurants, takeaways, children's nurseries etc

fridayschild · 10/07/2006 22:28

we left fizz

also several big envelopes with lots of stamps on and our new address. they send us the letters that slipped thru the post office's redirection service

you will be your solicitor's best friend, I used to do that sort of work and hardly ever got pressies

dmo · 11/07/2006 10:14

wow presents i will move into your house!
think i moved to yellowfeathers old house first time round (only joking) you could not walk into kitchen without your feet sticking to floor.
second house we got was an old ladys house who had died and daughters were selling it and as they took bookshelf etc away the other daugher was painting the walls for us AMASHING!
I think just a card to welcome him would be nice maybe a plant

warthog · 11/07/2006 10:51

wow! we just bought a house and thought ourselves lucky that it was vaguely clean! i would have been really touched to find a bottle of wine... the thought never occured to me, and i don't think it's expected... i think wine is good. i'm not sure about a plant because it might not get watered.
