when i was a climber, my ex-h, who was a very talented climber, met this welsh fella at a crag. the fella was like, 'say, i'm having a party tonight, why don't you come along and invite some friends.'

so about 6 of us went. we had all parked and were all like, 't (ex-h's name), sure you got the right address?' cuz it was a posh neighbourhood.

we rang the bell, chris answered, we stepped in, and our jaws all hit the floor.

OMG! this house belonged in a mag.

he wound up getting together w/a friend of mine and they now live in Lake Tahoe in another incredible house.

it was a cool house, but chris and his pals and the company was even cooler and the ex-h still climbs w/him - they went to peru last year.

ghosts and secret tunnels

SSSandy · 03/07/2006 21:09

The setting - view of the sea, bordering on a lake, in the mountains or surrounded by forest. Nothing much about the house itself except for the general atmosphere, good Feng Shui that kind of thing.

expatinscotland · 03/07/2006 21:10

ghosts a deffo plus, south!

good views - herds of buffalo sweeping majestically across the plains....

SSSandy · 03/07/2006 21:16

wouldn't that be noisy though - all those buffalo herds passing by?!

TooTicky · 03/07/2006 21:48

Oh, a loo that flushes without me having to fiddle about in the cistern. Every time

Caligula · 04/07/2006 10:12

Some of your wow factor things make me suspect that you've never actually gone wow in other people's houses because you've never seen the things that make you go wow. The bar is being set very high here...

A lovely front garden and musical instruments. I think the front garden thing is because I rarely get to do gardening without DS
and our front garden isn't really safe for him to be in and therefore is a bit of a tip. I dream of having a nice front garden.

The musical instruments have to look as though somebody is playing them, not as though they are on their way to the loft.

gegs73 · 04/07/2006 13:54

MASSIVE kitchen/diner with double french doors leading onto decking then to the garden sigh..

We have the musical instruments a few too many for my liking, dh is obsessed with guitars.

TinyGang · 04/07/2006 16:31

Artfully placed toys look good - like in IKEA catalogue.

You know, half made up trainset..immaculate child happily and quietly playing with it. ONE toy at a time. Mum (also immaculate)smiles indulgently and flicks through a magazine whilst sipping wine on the cream sofa

Anyway..back in the real world

milward · 04/07/2006 16:41

lol Tinygang seems we share the same taste in decoration!! I'd add in that the crunch of breakfast cereal often welcomes me in the kitchen

mythumbelinas · 04/07/2006 16:42

One friends 3 bed semi was converted to a proper 3 receptions, 6 bed extended house, complete with 3 bathrooms, massage power shower and still had a big garden at back .. so spacious with all bedrooms having v nice built-in storage! Spacious kitchen with double washers, american fridge, double sink, etc

One friend had his front room with huge projection screen that was intergrated with his computer, auto blinds, sky tv connection in practically all rooms, inc small screens opposite loo!! heated flooring in kitchen with those detachable shower type taps and american size fridge/freezer. Beautiful hardwood flooring .. sigh!
