my last kitchen was so small that when i was pg I couldn't get out the back door

I had to go out the front door and all the way round to get to the garden

chonky · 02/07/2006 22:17

Miele or Bosch appliances (I am easily impressed!)

Northerner · 02/07/2006 22:19

OOOh I'd love a hift wrapping room, an ironing room would be good too.

Books in common
a mumsnetter once said to me 'you should be impressed that I haven't tidied up for you' and I was!

chonky · 02/07/2006 22:22

SherlockLGJ - I loooong to have a Miele washing machine. I'm sure I am a house slut generally, but I love doing the laundry, and one of those would really cut it. Am willing my cruddy Zanussi to die - knowing dh he will look to have it fixed, aarghghh

SherlockLGJ · 02/07/2006 22:23

Books bloody everywhere in this house.

TooTicky · 02/07/2006 22:24

expat, we're renting too, and no room for the fridge in the kitchen, so that lives outside the bathroom. Woeful lack of cupboards so side always covered in stuff, and no drawers so even cutlery has to live elsewhere!

Chandra · 02/07/2006 22:24

Warm clean a bit untidied environments with lost of light, lots and lots of good quality books, a nice collection of music and a peaceful garden full of well organised plants that I'm well unable to grow!

I also sigh for period features in well proportiond rooms. And lighting, the proper one designed by a lighting professional designer

chonky · 02/07/2006 22:25

wet rooms with limestone tiles

if you're staying the night (especially if unplanned) a little pile at the foot of the bed comprising: white cotton dressing gown, fluffy white bath and hand-towel, neatly folded, pressed white cotton pyjamas, and some downers to counteract the large amounts of drugs you've been doing and help you sleep.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 02/07/2006 22:34

Oh shucks. Momentarily forgot which life I?m living. That wasn?t me. But I do know someone who lived that life and to whom that did happen (pre-kids, of course). And whilst I certainly wouldn?t say it impressed me it?s certainly the most gob-smacking thing about someone?s house that I;ve heard.

Northerner · 02/07/2006 22:35

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat - that would be a hotel surely?

Caligula · 02/07/2006 22:36

Or Anthea Turner's guest room?

WideWebWitch · 02/07/2006 22:37

ha ha at hotel/Anthea!

JackieNo · 02/07/2006 22:37

Surely being in Anthea's house would be enough of a downer?

TinyGang · 02/07/2006 22:38

Staff.

I'd love staff me, and a little bell to summon them

dinny · 02/07/2006 22:39

I have to say that I was deeply impressed when I met a friend's mum, the most impresive aspect of the evening was when she offered me a cake and then asked my friend to bring the cake trolley from the kitchen! can not believe there is still people around who have several cakes for her guests to choose from especially when I had been invited just a couple hours before.

bermudatriangle · 02/07/2006 22:53

indoor toilet. Although in this weather our outdoor privvy isn't so bad. Honks a bit, though.

groggymama · 02/07/2006 22:57
