Ok, I've got to start this one now, as I was actually lying in bed last night thinking about it (v sad I know - insomnia was another present from the kids)
Anyway, what sort of mental images have you got of these people. I'll list mine now - no offence intended to anyone!
Mollipops - after your last post, it's got to be puff the magic dragon!
Pamina - chic city lady with dark curly hair (that's what you sounded like bc anyway).
Tigger - dungarees & wellies caked in mud - with a VERY large g&t in hand
Chanelno5 - tricky one this, as I misread your name initially & thought it was channel no 5, not nearly as upmarket I'm afraid, but now it's confused with a north sea oil rigger!
Ems - delia smith (sorry)
Lizzer - Bit like that lass from the boddies adverts (know the one I mean),
Anyway, that's my starter for ten, I'll add anymore I think of.

Well then the tooth extraction went not to say the least BLOODY SORELY!!!!!, after all various sets of pliers, much pulling and pulling the damned thing came out in 3 bits!!. I now have a sore face, although DH says that is nothing unusual! and great hole that resembles a Moon Crater. Even worse I wasn't allowed any incohol last night to ease the pain, so tonight I will indulge in a small gin, and tomrrow night we're going to our friends for dinner, whooopeee doooo, and even better, the first lot of ews have nearly finished lambing!! As for now, it is time for me to go and speak nicely to the hoover!!

berries · 07/02/2002 13:41

Tigger, friend of mine reckons the best 'cure' for wisdom tooth extraction is red wine drunk through a straw! Don't know if it helps the healing, but you won;t feel much of the pain! Hope you're feeling better soon.
Pamina, I have been around a while, but didn't contribute too much. I decided to change my name because it was too obvious to anyone who knew me. You're welcome to guess if you like (might not admit it though).
Anyone guessed who LisaV is yet?

Berries, peace, but why read it as anything at all? phonetically it's essemel anyway and I thought we were talking about characters, not making cracks at each others names...if it's names, what sort of berries are you?? Straw, rasp, bil, whortle, goose, blae, elder or mul ....?!

Marina, ha ha, actually my sister was called High-acinth at school once, she was v tall ... any more of this and I shall change my name to something incredibly beautiful, helenoftroy maybe, character will stay the same unfortunately.

Now I am just going to take 10 days off work to tide over a childcare gap (mega crisis, safely resolved I hope), so I won't be posting for a while, but have not gone off in a sulk.

TigerMoth1 · 07/02/2002 17:57

Oh, before I go for the evening, must post this - tell me Tinker, are you really, truly, India Knight? The question will haunt me...

bossykate · 07/02/2002 19:29

er...(pokes head cautiously over parapet)... is it just me or could this thread be seen as somewhat cliquey? i know it started off as lighthearted fun, but i could see how some people could be put off meeting up...

ok, i'll get me coat.

Tinker · 07/02/2002 19:39

Tigermoth - DEFINITELY NOT!!!!! She's a pet loathing of mine.

bossykate - I think you're a right, really. When I first discovered this site I felt like everyone knew each other. I still don't consider myself a regular and have never met anyone from here. But, I'd hate to come across as cliquey so I'll ease out of this.

Batters, lol re MMR light relief!

jsmummy · 07/02/2002 21:03

I've got a question about the meet up Batters: was it strange meeting people and having to call them by their "real" names? And does it change things now you're back on here and don't have anonymity?

jodee · 07/02/2002 21:51

lisav - if we butter you up, will you come out of your shell????

I hadn't read any of this thread until this morning, I think itis hilarious! I don't drive a big red diesel, sounds like a tractor, but do drive a 4x4 with gun sights on the end of the bonnet, that I barge out into the traffic. Not sure about the batwinged sweater with mirrors on though, sounds very strange to be!!

I think ChanelNo5 has an amazing descriptive imagination, she should be writing Jilly Cooper type novels!

TigerMoth1 · 08/02/2002 10:42

Meeting up hasn't affected what I post, either. Honestly. I feel I 'know' and am more in tune with some of the virtual people here, even more than the real people I met, just by reading their posts and swapping opinions over the last 18 months. And it's also really nice to respond to fresh posts from people who are new.

One major concern censors what I write: I assume all our rantings and ravings will still be accessible 50 years from now. I don't want my sons to ever come across a posting that will deeply hurt them. The same applies to my husband.

Incidently, some chat sites (I don't know many, but every now and again I have a browse) seem to positively encourge cliquiness.

ie
Asking members to score the postings of others - and making the results public.

And even giving you the option to list your on-site friends and enemies!!!YUK!! When I first saw this practice, I was shocked. I think that's an absolutely horrendous idea.

Tigermoth1 · 08/02/2002 12:56

PS I have also made some friends via mumsnet - isn't that, happily, an inevitable possibility when you meet up?

Pupuce · 08/02/2002 13:10

I am Cindy Crawford, tall slim, long gorgeous brown hair... was married tio Richard Gere and now to a very wealthy man.... life is sooooo hard !

LisaV · 08/02/2002 14:18

This is definitely my last post under this name! Just had to say that Lizzer sounds like a really good Northern lass with a brill sense of humour, pretty, in her late twenties and wears docs.

I am actually Nicole Kidman, ok luvvies! I've only met Janh, but don't worry Jan, your secret is safe with me! However you all sound like a good crowd, if only Mumsnet met in the North West from time to time! Then I could bring out my tweed skirt and cat jumper!

And to the male friend who I know will be reading this ..... do you still have small hands?

Joe1 · 08/02/2002 15:00

I think Lizzer is a socialite (always off somewhere or another) with blonde hair, tall and wears high heels, boots and shoes.

Rosy · 08/02/2002 15:54

Chanelno5: stop saying things like "mate", you're ruining my impression of you! In my mind you're immaculately dressed, blonde, like shopping in John Lewis & Waitrose, have a rich husband & kids at private school, and drive about in a silly 4x4. And you live somewhere in the Thames valley.
Lisav: small, blonde, calm, about 25, wears skirts.
Lizzer: as someone else said, down to earth northern lass. Wears jeans, cowboy boots, and has long thick brown hair.
Sml: middle eastern, exotic.
Scummymummy: the kind of woman that's described as feisty.
Bossykate: redhead for some reason. And bossy, obviously.
Malmomum: tall & strong, short light brown hair.
Eulalia: small & dark & wise(though this could be because I thought for a long time she was Spanish. Silly me!)
Suedonim: tall & dark & the kind of person you'd like to have around in an emergency.

BTW, I talk to alot of people on the phone at work without meeting them and for some reason they're always smaller than I imagine them. But maybe that's just me!

ChanelNo5 · 08/02/2002 16:50

Rosy - You are sooooooooooooo right about me, mate! (Except that I don't live in the Thames Valley, my dh isn't rich, my kids don't go to a private school and I don't drive a 4x4 - but I can dream!!)

You BTW are very feminine, have Barbie blonde hair in soft curls, like frosty pink lipstick, never shout, and wear Barbara Cartland style negliges. I'm right, aren't I? But don't worry, I won't tell anyone!

MotherofOne · 08/02/2002 20:08

oh, I can't bear being left out any longer... someone please 'do' me....(but only so I can prove you all wrong at the London meet up!!)

Joe1 · 08/02/2002 20:43

Motherofone, I feel left out too boo hoo.

emsiewill · 08/02/2002 22:02

Me too, me too!

Rhubarb · 08/02/2002 22:57
