mumtojosh> my daughter was declined by bizzykidz and I was quite relieved after reading the comments on here to be honest and then accepted a place with Bruce and Brown.
I should say though that since this has happened a few things have come to my attention
-
I called loads of clients up and casting companies and asked them who they used and bizzykidz came up on 9 out of 10 occasions
-
childmodelling.net website lists for most of the other agencies (incl all the large agencies) n/a for the queston on numbers of children on their books and just says 'agency not verified yet'. I have counted the kids on the websites of most of them and they have got loads and elizabeth smiths site has got nearly a thousand including families and new faces?
In answer to your question then I would say that bizzykidz do refuse people and many by all accounts according to this forum too. Also, clients use them regularly and children get work. One mum posted on here a few days ago that her child did a chessingtion shoot with bizzykidz and had no audition with them
I think in all fairness that, having done my research, they are established and well known and an agency to be successful needs numbers on their books. The fact of the matter is that not all children will get work and one agency may be better for one child than another. The fact that a handful of parents say that they have not had work with an agency should be weighed up against the amount that have and lets face it, no matter how many an agency has on their books, there will always be a few that are not as successful as others.
I think the agencies I would be concerned about joining are the smaller ones. If I was a client I would rather go to an agency with a wide selection because at least I would have a chance of finding what I am looking for. I know that it would limit the child for work, but I would rather be one of many that clients use every day than be one of few that is not used as much by clients.
I have now gone with Bruce and Brown, they are big, well known and have nearly 400 kids on their books and growing. Clients use them all the time so I am happy with that.
If you imagine an agency with 100 kids on their kids, sounds great, but break that down to babies, toddlers, then pre-school, then 5,6,7 yrs etc. Then split into boys, then black, white, oriental. That would mean they could only have a maximum of 1 or 2 per type. Clients would surely like to see a selection to choose from and if they can get that from a bigger agency then sense would tell them to go there first?
Sorry for the essay, but just wanted to give my informed view after alot of research before applying to agencies myself.
Hope that helps
going to rest my fingers now, lol
