MarsLady · 18/05/2006 13:16

Utility room and the bedrooms.

serenity · 18/05/2006 13:19

I have 2 boys and a girl, but DD is only 2.5 so is far messier at the moment. DH cycles 30+ miles a day to get to work, so I have lots of very wet and sweaty clothes to wash. As the weather gets better, the loads will drop.

Jasnem · 18/05/2006 13:20

Basket is in kitchen next to machine.
Boy is 12 weeks old, but dp is a builder and goes through 2 entire changes of clothes a day...luckily he doesn't like the feel of ironed clothes.
I do 2 loads most days.

Auntymandy · 18/05/2006 13:21

4 boys one girl...surely girls go through more clothes than boys?!

littlerach · 18/05/2006 13:21
Blush

Really don't know!

Dd1 hardly ever gets dirty, except if we are out walking etc. Or painting.

Dd2 is often filthy, but her clothes are so small, they don't seem to take up any room.

And Dh and I do change our clothes regularly, we don't smell or anything!

i have probably jinxed us now, and DD1 will come out od school filthy, and DD2 will puke tonight.

Twiglett · 18/05/2006 13:24

ours is downstairs under the stairs

because its closer to the washing machine

and I find it easy to throw all dirty clothes on to the landing then take a big pile of them downstairs and shove them in either basket or washing machine

kids also divest themselves of clothes and shove in laundry basket

cod · 18/05/2006 13:24

think ou are all freaks who have loads
i dont see hwo that makes luife easier
get yer kdis to W.A.L.K. tot he bathroom to dump it in

bundle · 18/05/2006 13:25

one in bathroom. is there any other answer?

pootlepod · 18/05/2006 13:26

Main one is in the bathroom (all bedrooms are on the same floor and most people visit the bathroom when taking off clothes)

Also have a small laundry bag in the kitchen on a peg for flannels, teatowels, and if dd gets dressed/undressed downstairs (quite often). Simply to save my legs going up and down the stairs.

I tend to tumble most bits for 10-20 minutes to save ironing and theat's folded and left on the stairs for the next person going up to take. Or it hangs about in the ironing basket for about a week 'till there's enough worth doing.

BUNDLE th voice of reason

dyzzidi · 18/05/2006 13:31

I have mine in the kitchen. I find it easier and tend to wash nearly every night. I will happily put a wash on when starting my tea, sterilising bottles etc and when I wash up the load is done. It then goes in dryer on line or on a maiden and i put it away directly from there. I

ggglimpopo · 18/05/2006 13:32

I am OVERWHELMED by laundry today and my laundry room is a shitehole - everyone has been using it as a dumping ground - and I feel ready to commit murder . So unstepford that it hurts.

LIZS · 18/05/2006 13:35

one in bathroom, one in our bedroom cupboard

ggglimpopo · 18/05/2006 13:40

But in reponse to question, one in our bathroom, one in one of the kids bathrooms and one in laundry room. All, for no reason whatsoever, currently overflowing. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

Auntymandy · 18/05/2006 13:45

I seem to get to the bottom then one of them tidies their room!!!

Cam · 18/05/2006 13:48

1 for dh and me on small landing area outside our bedroom
1 for dd in her bedroom

Whilst dd and I wear clean clothes every day, it is still dh who produces the most washing. Guess its because he doesn't do the washing.

My washing obsession is towels. I think I wash them every time they're used.

gladbag · 18/05/2006 13:52

2 lidded ones in our bedroom (1 for whites, 1 for coloureds) and then one on the landing by the bathroom supposedly for ds (I used to wash all his stuff separately in non-bio, but don't usually both). His is a big basket with handles, so also gets used for transporting all the washing downstairs.

PinkKerPlink · 18/05/2006 13:53

weirdly ours in the kitchen but there is also a bige pile outside my bedroom door

iota · 18/05/2006 13:54

I have a plastic crate on the landing (currently searching for just the right size and shape of bin) into which the boys lob their clothes.

This is emptied daily into the master laundry bin in the utility rm next to the washing machine.

Crate is used for transporting miscellaneous items back upstairs during the day, and is ready to receive the next lot of dirty clothes at bed-time.

Master laundry bin is sorted into lights and darks in situ (whites left in the bin until sufficient quantity is available to make a full load.

This is the perfect system IMHO, discovered after extensive reseach into placements/no of bins and ergonomic flow of clothes Grin

sugarfree · 18/05/2006 13:59

3 boys,Dh and me,thats at least a load a day.On bed change day I do 4 loads.
One laundry basket on landing outside boys bedrooms and bathroom. One small drawstring bag upstairs in our bedroom that I empty every morning into the main basket.Whole basket gets chucked over the bannister when full(every other day or so=2 loads)
I thought about giving the boys one each but I felt a little piece of my soul shrivel up and die at the thought of going round emptying them all.Silly idea.
