(Dh already is...)

It's a bone of contention with me that the letters which come home from school (ds1 for now, ds2 as well, as of September) invariably have spelling, grammatical and/or punctuation mistakes in. For example, the teacher who is Literacy Co-ordinator seems to have no idea how apostrophes work and has signed her name to several glaring apostrophical (OK, I made that up) errors...

Another classic this week: a covering letter and sponsorship form in aid of Art's Week. Three times it's written as Art's week, so not just a one-off typo.

I suggested to dh - and he is begging me to do it now - that on the sponsorship form (two incidents of the error) I add a note to the effect:

Always happy to support school in any way but I have to ask: who is Art and why are we supporting him?

Shall I....shall I?

ours always always puts 'loosing car parking facilities' instead of losing.

Drives me mad.

Don't think I would bring it to their attention though.

lol at jampots sad face in the margin, hilarious.

marthamoo - so, did you??? Smile

slug · 17/05/2006 11:17

Yes you must!!! I send the sluglet's school notices back corrected in red pen. In my defence, I tend to do this when drunk and dh delivers them because he enjoys stirring things up Blush

I even wrote to the Lib Dems pointing out their campaigning material was full of grammatical errors.

BeetrootOldDeer · 17/05/2006 18:20

well did you?

Crystaltips · 17/05/2006 18:26

Think that you definitely should .... but it'd probably be wasted on them.

Did you ?

ruty · 17/05/2006 18:41

dolally · 17/05/2006 21:52

well?

Twinkie1 · 17/05/2006 21:55

Just correct the grammer and send it back in an envelope addressed to the author - I've done it before as DDs school secretary puts bloody punctuation everywhere its not meant to be and doesnt bother with it when it is necessary!!!

JoolsToo · 17/05/2006 21:59

ha, ha! I would

did you Grin

marthamoo · 17/05/2006 22:05

Blimey, I skive off shopping for the day (no kids....I'll say it again...no kids) and come back to a cacophony of MNers all sounding like Mrs Doyle in Father Ted..."g'wan...g'wan..."

Haven't decided yet. Would it be really terrible to do it anonymously? I quite like this particular teacher (despite her appalling punctuation) - ds1 had her in Year 1...I don't want her to know it was me Grin!

G'wan, g'wan, you know you want to! Goh an!

If you don't take issue with educators who can't educate (or punctuate!) the world will come to ruin! Grin

I loved the one sprayed on the shutters in a village in Durham - 'phuck off'! I had to smile when I first saw that one! Grin

Irony or a decay in phonetics?

moondog · 18/05/2006 08:29

Grin Grin

ggglimpopo · 18/05/2006 08:32

I am repeating myself here, but my favourite typo was as a nurse - huge tattoo emblazoned on the chest of a twenty something:

JIMMI HENDRIX

Grin
moondog · 18/05/2006 08:37
