How many of us actually meet Shona's little sidekicks criteria?
She states that all of us on Mumsnet are in our 30s, living in London and have a degree. How many people here meet that criteria?
How many are popping prozac depressed at the shit life we now have with kids?
Damn that woman is nasty!

But damsel, that's not the only point she was making. The fact that the DM then changed their online copy because of Justine's email to me suggest they know she was right that some of what they wrote was libellous and just down right inaccurate.

Add in to the fact that the DM has been gunning for Mumsnet for weeks, it all stinks of sour grapes from the DM.

They don't hate us enough to not try to canvass our opinions (see GP thread link), but they want to put us in our place as the "little women of the Internet. How dare we have opinions of things like politics, get back in the kitchen woman.......

StitchAteMySleep · 12/04/2013 10:32

30's - tick
Degrees - 2 + PGCE
Lives in London - tick
On Ad's - no I self medicate with chocolate
I don't iron unless paid in hob nobs

Xenia · 12/04/2013 10:43

Credit where credit is due - if they corrected something which was inaccurate that is much better than some organisations do.

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2013 10:55

Shock at 'credit' to the Daily Mail. But I was surprised they changed it Xenia.

Halfling · 12/04/2013 11:09

30's, 2 degress, Berkshire. Prozac might help!

mrsjay · 12/04/2013 11:10

4oish scottish woman no degree only been to London once does that count Grin

ATJabberwocky · 12/04/2013 11:12

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2307129/Amanda-Holden--Shona-Sibary-Why-I-hate-smug-bullies-Mumsnet.html

"I could just envisage this coven of poisonous women ? huddled over their Hobnobs and steaming mugs of tea, dressed in ubiquitous Boden ? each furiously typing ever more nasty and unpalatable drops of bile to pop into their bubbling cauldron."

meh DM vitriol

ATJabberwocky · 12/04/2013 11:13

42, Sheffield, no Prozac just copious amounts of wine :P

BeyondIsBloodOfTheDragon · 12/04/2013 11:44

Late twenties (when did that happen!)
Newport
1st year of degree, so not yet!
ADs but not prozac, and I've had them longer than the DSs. Plus they are good for my chronic pain.
And god, no no no to boden!
And as for ironing? Hahahahahaha!

Xenia · 12/04/2013 11:53

I've read it now. Freelance writers like that need to be controversial to have their articles accepted. If she doesn't like the heat she should get out of the kitchen and obtain a different job. She is making a career, like Ms Brick, of being a kind of public punch and judy.

However the article remains inaccurate in suggesting most mumsnetters are housewives who are against working mothers. I have many times set out the case for how if more women did as I did ( 2 weeks off to have a baby and then back to full time work) their children and families and they would be a lot happier. It is not true that mumsnet just reflects the views of housewives.

eccentrica · 12/04/2013 11:54

Yes 30s, London and have 3 degrees. No antidepressants and my daughter rocks :)

Shona Sibary (if it is her) is essentially a paid troll who writes articles such as "Why it's better to be ugly", "How I avoid having sex with my husband", "I think it's fine to drug my toddler on plane journeys", and other crass linkbait.

eccentrica · 12/04/2013 11:56

Oh, and haven't read the article, but just seen references to 'ironing' and 'housewives' in previous posts. I split childcare/housework/job-work 50/50 with my partner. He earns slightly more (a slightly bigger pittance), I do slightly more interesting work. Neither of us does any ironing and in fact don't own one.

MrsMarigold · 12/04/2013 12:07

OUCH! SAHM 36. Muswell Hill is five minutes away. Degree - Yes. Antidepressants, yes I've taken Prozac in the past, and am thinking of going back on it because of PND. I feel like a dinosaur because I was having children and not honing my social media means so I've got behind in my career. Hobnobs are a bit too sweet for me and Boden isn't for me, I prefer Jigsaw. I'm not smug at all, in fact I worry about what I'm going to say to my friends and husband, since I never get out or read anything decent these days.

I quite like Shona and am friends with a few DM journos.

MrsAbernethy · 12/04/2013 12:10

Yes to 30s, no to London (I've only been twice and was thoroughly terrified due to my general country bumpkin-ness) 3 children, 2 degrees and I work part-time. I'm trying to give up my Daily Mail sidebar of shame habit Blush I do like a bit of Boden though, but only in the sale. No ADs yet and I'm more of a cheese scone than chocolate hobnobs girl.

Tortington · 12/04/2013 12:22

no to 30's :(, no to london, 1 degree, i haven't read the article as its in the daily mail and they are vile atrocious viscious and hateful. and i think that mumsnetters should boycott links that people post and say ' i am not clicking on the daily mail link, becuase they are cuntoxes.'

Tortington · 12/04/2013 12:24

i feel it very pertinent to point out that i passed my grade 3 drumming exam...with merit last week. you might think i'm showing off, of course, i am.

Zara1984 · 12/04/2013 12:26

Go Justine!! Great email.

I am not sure where I fit on the MN spectrum. Late 20s, don't live in London let alone the UK, three degrees, no pills but MN support over the past three years has probably saved me from them. Have one lovely baby DS. I love Ikea, Lidl and watching Geordie Shore when DS is in bed. Grin

Hobnobs are the only biscuit I like, though!

Y y to Shona being essentially a paid troll.

Zara1984 · 12/04/2013 12:27

Cuntoxes is a great word custardo

Tortington · 12/04/2013 12:30

just seen a Justine pic on Ham & High - she's rocking the long hair, love it.

Tortington · 12/04/2013 12:31

I think so too Zara

Xenia · 12/04/2013 12:35

Cust, is that not a bit judging on looks? If J were 25 stone with black short hair or no hair would she be "rocking"?

If some people are saying the DM is "vile atrocious viscious [ sic] and hateful" surely that is as bad as DM criticising mumsnet?

{For the avoidance of doubt I have the Times and FT delivered every day. Real women/ mumsnetters read the Financial Times surely]

Zara1984 · 12/04/2013 12:44

Agree, I luffs me the FT and the Economist too Xenia. But I am also tightfisted so 'twas a happy 8 months when both titles forgot my subscription had run out and I had full online access for free. Huzza!

herecomesthsun · 12/04/2013 12:47

49 this month. 16 letters after my name (3 degrees plus post grad qualifications - most of which were obtained in London). Just had second baby. LOVE being a mum. Live in the countryside surrounded by mud and trees. Have prescribed prozac for other people, never had antidepressants prescribed for me!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 12/04/2013 12:57

"dressed in ubiquitous Boden" is quite funny I think Grin

We're not ubiquitous in anything, surely 5 mins on Mumsnet would show you that !
Yes I got the catalogue and liked some of the skirts and dresses for girls, but both mine mainly wear things passed on from cousins and friends - more environmentally friendly that way anyhow !

Tortington · 12/04/2013 13:02

Complimenting Xenia.

Xenia are you implying that someone who is 25 stone and bald can't rock?
