AAArrrgggghhhh!!!!! ShockShock

WestCountryLass · 13/05/2006 23:13

If you are not planning on moving and if you really want it then do it, it doesn't matter whether anyone else wants it or not, it's your house.

And for some reason I am seeing the Flake advert!

plummymummy · 13/05/2006 23:20

Oh please just do it and send us the pics.

Skribble · 13/05/2006 23:20

Yes i always liked the idea of this, has to be a big rool top with water overflowing like the flake advert Grin.

noddyholder · 14/05/2006 20:29

Condensation not a prob according to the builders we can have a very efficient ventilator and there is a huge floor to ceiling window. There will be a bath in the bathroom too just a regular one and a shower.Purely for indulgence and the whole area will be tiled.Cod you would say it was crap so I won't tske offence .It will probably only be used by me but cod I am seriously considering a tin bath very urban/industrial with a touch of nostalgia thanks for the idea

A friend of mine has a beautiful claw foot bath with beautiful taps on a raised platform in her bedroom - it looks like the height of decadence. Go for it!

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 14/05/2006 21:32

My ideal would be neither en-suite nor just a bath in the bedroom - it owuld be kind of open plan - maybe with an big arch connecting them, or possibly a half wall in those chuncky glass bricks

Northerner · 14/05/2006 21:34

I stayed in a french chateau with a claw foot bath in the bedroom, it was in front of a huge flooe to ceiling window with shutters overlooking the vinyards......

I think if it suits the style of your house then go for it!

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2006 21:37

I'd go for this if I had a room big enough and warm enough.

noddyholder · 14/05/2006 21:40

I think I will the main reason being all the plumbing is there and so is straightforward and cheap! Thanks for all your views and prufrock yours sounds lovely although I think dp may baulk if I suggest lights he has just recovered after seeing the cost of the kitchen worktop

I love the idea. If you are sure the condensation thing would be ok then go for it. Someone said they would feel vulnerable and I can see what they mean, but for me this would add an extra frisson of pleasure about being in the bath, would be really quite wonderful I think Blush

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2006 21:48

Noddy, look at the room \link{http://www.drakesofbrighton.com/TheSuite.html\here} it looks great to me, that's the kind of thing I would have in mind.

noddyholder · 14/05/2006 22:29

Thats what I have in mind too Thanksxx

was thinkign abotu this as d h showered at 5 am to ctah a flight
noise?

puff · 15/05/2006 10:30

My fil's house had baths in some of the guest rooms, where they didn't have an en suite.

They did have some problems with condensation because of it.

zippitippitoes · 15/05/2006 10:33

If you do get a metal bath then do make sure it will be easy to look after..we have an antique copper basin in the bathroom which I bought at an auction and fashioned together with a wrought iron stand and copper refurbished taps and it is a big mistake!

Prufrock · 15/05/2006 14:53

The wall that doubles as headboard and separates bathroom/bedroom is extra insulated in ours, so that noise doesn't travel through. Well, so the builder promises me.

\link{http://www.dough-heat.com/portfolio-aroma.asp\this} btw, is my aromatherapy towel rail!

Noddy - have you seen the \link{http://www.bathroomluxury.co.uk/index2.html\SOK} overflow bath? This is perfect for that Flake advert moment

plummymummy · 16/05/2006 09:34

Hmm not much of a wine ledge though
