As you are all prob aware I follow the Gf routine and am also on her website and this was posted for us to see.

Dear Members,

In response to your emails regarding the statement in The Times Newspaper on 9th May 2006. We would like to confirm that neither Gina or her lawyers have put pressure on Mumsnet regarding the criticism that her methods receive on their forums. Gina was forced to seek legal
advice regarding other very serious issues with Mumsnet, and we will in the near future make a public statement as to her reasons for this. It would appear that some Mumsnet members are demanding a ban of the
Gina Ford name on the site. Gina herself would welcome this, as her forthcoming statement will confirm, she has for very valid reasons, no wish to be associated with the Mumsnet site.

Soapbox has her auditor radar on today and has explained it rather better than moi as usual Grin

zippitippitoes · 12/05/2006 12:35

you just can't post on them now (or flip them)

Marina · 12/05/2006 12:36

That makes good sense

monkeytrousers · 12/05/2006 12:50

That article MP posted said that on GF babies can be left to cry for up to 3 hours - is that correct? If that's true then it's barbaric and potentially very dangerous to the emotional well being of the baby.

And the fact that she has no children is crucial I think - I imagine it's much easier to leave a child to cry if you have no deep emotional ties to it. Mothers on the other hand have very real physiological responses to their babies crying which are there FOR A REASON.

FrannyandZooey · 12/05/2006 13:02

It's true monkey trousers :(

HC posted the quote from her book where the parents hardened themselves to leave the baby to cry for 3 hours as they tried to comfort one another :(

That thread possibly got deleted, I don't know

arfy · 12/05/2006 13:14

oh my internet has been down all day and I have been HYPERVENTILATING as I wanted to make sure this was still here and I didn't dream it....

and look, here it is....

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 12/05/2006 13:15

The thread I got to via google doesn't exist if you click on the google link- it says "unknown thread" or whatever- looks like a deleted thread, you can access the whole thing via google cache though. I didn't realise you couldn't get to it via the google link until after I'd posted it iyswim.

BTW. Does Forldemort actually have children?

2ManyPimms · 12/05/2006 13:27

This has been said before, but I'll say it again...let GF pop out a few sprogs and then let her spew her theories about leaving a child to cry for 3 HOURS.

She couldn't do it....I'll take bets on that. Coldhearted wench.

(ooohhh...can she sue me for that?)

mummygow · 12/05/2006 13:28

Hi everyone I'm back, I cant beleive everyone's still on here I thought it would just get a big list posts saying good, I'm being a bit over the top there with the BIG list, threads I start normally only get a small listSadGrin. Anyway I did start another thread the other night, aboout my unreasonable dh, so come on you lot come and help me out!!

Tinker · 12/05/2006 13:33

In the "Lucy" case study the baby was "totally breast fed" "I also insisted that Lucy be given a bottle of formula at 7pm instead of the breast as I was convinced that she was probably not getting enough to drink at that feed. Reluctantly her mother agreed to do this."

Shock Oops, sorry, wrong thread!! Grin

SoupDragon · 12/05/2006 13:37

Tinker, that's awful!

beety · 12/05/2006 13:38

ahmm, less of the personal insults please. Not appropriate or necessary

Tinker · 12/05/2006 13:39

The "reluctantly" made me feel so sad.

GamelanCarrier · 12/05/2006 13:41

that is her advice Soupdragon. She says that if your baby is unsettled in the evening she suggests that is due to poor milk supply. her suggestion for this is to top up with a bottle of EBM or formula and not to demand feed or go outside the routine.

ruty · 12/05/2006 13:50

right. why don't we sue GF collectively for misleading advice about breastfeeding v formula? That is just shocking Tinker.

Tinker · 12/05/2006 13:51

Would be interested (vaguely) to know whether it is still in the later editions.
