For all who want GF banned from MN - so does she!!

As you are all prob aware I follow the Gf routine and am also on her website and this was posted for us to see.

Dear Members,

In response to your emails regarding the statement in The Times Newspaper on 9th May 2006. We would like to confirm that neither Gina or her lawyers have put pressure on Mumsnet regarding the criticism that her methods receive on their forums. Gina was forced to seek legal
advice regarding other very serious issues with Mumsnet, and we will in the near future make a public statement as to her reasons for this. It would appear that some Mumsnet members are demanding a ban of the
Gina Ford name on the site. Gina herself would welcome this, as her forthcoming statement will confirm, she has for very valid reasons, no wish to be associated with the Mumsnet site.

Most of it is covered in Google's cache if you want to check it out but it's a bit of a car wreck isn't it?

I could see a good precis from JJ about the original issues in 2004 from the link, and when I googled ginababe I found the tomatoes and weaning post.
MP, I think you may well be on to something there :(
I can see even from a precis how very upsetting that original thread might have been to the named individual and family, but I remain perplexed as to how it has triggered legal issues in 2006, nearly two years later. I thought only conveyancing took that long Wink

I agree Marina- I could understand it at the time to be honest- the reaction was extreme, but so were the posts, and as she was a fairly regular poster at the time you can see how extremely hurtful it would have been. I actually had some sympathy at the time, but it's worn a bit thin after recent events.

one states that messages in foreign languages may be deleted

freedom of speech mi backside.

and that to cancel membership you must give 2 month's advance notice.

MP - I don't think anyone is 'gawping'!

Her representative has put out a message explaining in part why she has commenced legal proceedings against MN. All we are doing is trying to understand the issues that her representatives have raised, in the context of what we have seen on Ms Ford on this site, if she is indeed Ginababe.

Soapbox, I've wondered whether she disclosed her ginababe postings to her lawyers. I didn't see the thread at the time, but had a rundown, and it all sounded so - erm -confused- that it could alter - well everything. I seem to remember that evita did apologise for whatever it was that she said, once she found out that ginababe was gf.

What has having a messed up family history got to do with anything - no one can expect to be asked to listen to what she preaches and then not be able to criticise because she has a fucked up family or no one would listen to any of us!!!

Do you think if someone used her methods and then their kids turned into complete ogres when they got older they would be able to sue???

oh whoopps perhaps that should be deleted, I didn't realise you could access deleted threads through google. Does MN? Is that a problem? I assumed as the cache thingy showed it was still around and not deleted.

This is a horrificlly facinating thread I can't stop refreshing it!!

I was at the summer party and remember a bit of the hoo ha, tbh although Ginababe was meant to be GF I don't think I really believed it.

I do think somewhere along the lines things hhave got very very confused, I thought we couldn't post about GF on a personal basis, but could discuss her methods. Now it seems we cannot do that, but not becasue we may have been less than complimentary about the woman herself, but because we swear??? WTF

I must be mad that the meaning has got a bit twisted by someone somewhere. If anyone has Ann Cloughs email, please email her and ask her to post agin, please please please, so to clear up what we are an are not meant to have done. I know she said she will never ever post agin, but the rumpus that has been caused by her post.!!!

So please anyone who subscribes to GF's website, or who has Ann Cloughs email, could you please ask her to come back, and just clarify, is it the swearing or the personal comments???

No - I think these are different - these are threads that were not deleted but were possibly not archived either:)

The deleted thread issue has now been tightened up I believe, as demonstrated by the fact that you cannot locate the cached main Evita/Ginababe thread through google!

Not at all JJKOVT, I thought the recent secret thread loophole hooha meant all cached threads were no longer googlable too.
