For all who want GF banned from MN - so does she!!

As you are all prob aware I follow the Gf routine and am also on her website and this was posted for us to see.

Dear Members,

In response to your emails regarding the statement in The Times Newspaper on 9th May 2006. We would like to confirm that neither Gina or her lawyers have put pressure on Mumsnet regarding the criticism that her methods receive on their forums. Gina was forced to seek legal
advice regarding other very serious issues with Mumsnet, and we will in the near future make a public statement as to her reasons for this. It would appear that some Mumsnet members are demanding a ban of the
Gina Ford name on the site. Gina herself would welcome this, as her forthcoming statement will confirm, she has for very valid reasons, no wish to be associated with the Mumsnet site.

i do worry, however that we keep giving undo free publicity to someone who is about to publish a book.
baby rearing is full of fads and honestly one might imagine that certain methods are already very well known and might not spark enough interest when a new book comes along. what better then than to create some controversy in the press?
this is just a suppose if really nothing to do with any current realityoff to mumble incoherently quietly in a corner

Its not that that thread would come up if you googled GF, its the fact that we have some 'colourful' threads and she doesn't want to be associated with a website that swears. She is worried that 'the general public' might feel that she think its ok to swear openly.

What a thread! That reply from Ms clough with the link has made my morning!! I mean seriously, wtf??!! I was thinking it would be a link to a conversation about her but the swearing thread??!! eh??????????!!!!!!!!! Grin That was quite a recent thread wasn't it? The original threads about her were ages ago weren't they? So she wants to be banned from here but she's still lurking and then gets a bee in her bonnet over a thread with no mention of her? Maybe she should get her head and her sense of humour out from where the sun doesn't shine!! Grin

do you know....I just can't get over the fact that she's such a succesful author for parenting techniques(sp??) and hasn't got children herself.

I know thats going over old ground but that fact just amazes me.
Yes, she's "worked" with lots of babies and children, but never her own....

I've never flown a boeing 747, but I think I'll call myself a pilot. I've been on some aeroplanes so.....

if you Google gina ford then no mumsnet references come up at all in the first 10 or more pages..by which time most people have lost the will to live..so no rational person is going to perceive an official link between the two.

If a person/topic is featured in a newspaper then the general public does not assume either an official link between the paper and the person, or that the person/topic being included means that they endorse and condone every other item printed.

I'm lost for words!!! It annoys the hell out of me when HV's don;t have children and try to tell you what to do but someone writing books and being a 'guru'!?!?!?!

As I said before in my VERY INTERSTING POST I checked the Search Engines for the ranking of Mumsnet with the query "Gina Ford":

Google: No matches in first 100 results

Searchphrase: "HunkerMunker"; matches with "mumsnet.com":

Google: Position: 1

Searchphrase: "mummygow"; matches with "mumsnet.com":

Google: Position: 1

So really, if anyone is going to complain it should be Hunkermunker and mummgow ...

at the end of the day what are pareting skills if not an acceptance of wha we are and what we have to offer. If you cant see past the minority of posters with torettes syndrome, then we are all doomed to the awful brand of BAD MOTHERS.

It is ashame that gina has chosen to disassociate herself from a website wich gives such an accurate and honest insite into what motherhood is realy like.
Motherhood is about emotion, not just about checking your watch. It is about interaction and animation. and yes some times this lead to venting, but better than its done to a machine than to your child because they wont stop crying no matter how many times you have checked their swaddell.
Perhaps she would know this if she was a mother.
