have you tried

settings
control panel
add/remove programmes

Click on the one you want & press the remove button?

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:07

Yep and that's where it won't do anything

Thanks for replying tho'

What version of Windows are you using?

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:30

XP - I think?

try turning off the pc, leave for a minute or so then turn on again.

Does this help? sometimes it just gets "stuck".

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 18:33

Try:

Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
System Restore

Set the computer back to an earlier date before you did the update on the camera software.

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:34

I did that twice - should I chooses a date before I installed the camera (it's a while ago)

OP posts:
Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:35

As in I did it after it was installed but before I updated it

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 18:35

You could try that if you have the original software for the camera available to put back on again afterwards.

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:36

Yep - I have the driver - but won't things move around a bit (or does it leave my docs alone?)

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 18:37

Do you need the camera software?

I have no specific camera software on my PC, but can upload pics from DH's works camera using other programmes.

SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 18:38

Docs should be left alone.

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:39

I don'y know if I need the software

I'm going to restart to see if I can get rid of this box in the middle of my screen

I think the software comes up when I plug the camera in

OP posts:
Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:40

I can't restore earlier than Feb and I installed it in Dec

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 26/04/2006 18:40

Try alt, ctrl and delete together to bring up task manager and see if you can shut the software down that way.

Katymac · 26/04/2006 18:44

OK the crappy box comes up when I plug in the camera - I can't Control Aalt Delete it

OP posts:
hub2dee · 26/04/2006 19:18

Just shut down and restart. If you can't CTRL ALT DEL yoru way out of trouble, and the START button doesn't work, just hold the power button down for 8 seconds and your PC should switch off. If it doesn't, pull it from the wall.

When you next power up it might want to fix files etc. etc. Let it do this. Then see how your PC behaves.

And next time, get your namesake. Smile

tamum · 26/04/2006 19:19

The easiest was out is to buy a card reader- cheap and much simpler.

Katymac · 26/04/2006 19:21

But I need to either completely uninstall it or reinstall it

Thanks Hub Grin

tamum · 26/04/2006 19:32

Why would it matter if you weren't using it though?

Katymac · 26/04/2006 19:45

Only 'cos I like things tidy

OP posts:
hub2dee · 26/04/2006 21:46

But, have you TRIED rebooting ?

You may find the application behaves differently after one (or even several) restarts. Windoze can be like that sadly...

Katymac · 26/04/2006 21:47

Yes today alone it has been on and off at least 15 times........I hate it
