Can anyone tell me where the "nicer" bits of manchester are? DH has changed his mind about moving down south, and has now suggested manchester. We don't live far away now, but don't know it at all. So if anyone can help, please do, DH just said "look at houses in Manchester" and left me to it!!!

You can't go wrong with Altrincham Girls and Altrincham Boys, or Sale Grammar - all fantastic schools (reflected in house prices though). The comprehensive schools round there such as Wellington and Ashton are also great.

Trafford was ranked 2nd in the most recent league tables for both primary and secondary.

In this location you are also really close to M60, M6, really close to Mcr airport. Not that far from countryside if you go south (Dunham and Tatton are 2 lovely NT places very close by) and you are about 20-25 mins from central Manchester.

There are lots of lovely areas in S.Mcr but this is my fav area (obviously!!) Grin

250 won't get you much at all in didsbury.maybe a studio flat! (i'm not joking either prices are outrageous!) the heatons are good, cheadle ,gatley, bramhall(again very expensive)
def go for stockport/south manchester rather than central or north.

Niceglasses / Oliveoil - I also lived off Beech Rd - St Clements, stockton then Attercliffe - went back thee a couple of years ago and thought it had really changed, lost its village feel, health shop gone, Brian's book shop gone - Beech Road itself also had +++ problems with traffic jams. Sad

I'm Cheadle Hulme/Bramhall and like it very much. Main estate agents are Andrew Snape, Gascoigne Halman and Bridgfords if you want to see what you can get for your money. Primary schools are very good, unaware of senior as mine are only 4 and 1 at the moment!
