summer is coming and i'm sure all good mothers are now wondering what their little darlings will be wearing on the beach this year....

do we go for:

the neoprene stay warm option? (note: no nappy insert)

the baby swimsuit/trunks (with built in nappy)

the sun protection suit (no nappy)

bog standard trunks/costume

just a swim nappy

nothing

obviously will be using sun cream and a gigantic hat..... your thoughts please, on this pressing issue!

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:16

starlover · 17/04/2006 22:16

well they dont need to burn do they
mine dont a goo dlayer of suncream and keep out of midday sun

i HATE hte mn HYsTERIA over sun

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:17

btw i dont own one, dont go to th beach that often. dd3 will be wearing shorts and t-shirt and i will frantically be putting her hat on over and over, dd1+2 will be wearing similar or swimming cossies and hats. loads of suncream if i can find one they dont react to this year, otherwise they just cover up. maybe i should buy sunsuits...........

cod · 17/04/2006 22:18

i rest my case

cod · 17/04/2006 22:18

\link{http://www.interamer.com/images/NBCprotectiveSuit.jpg\ i fidn this does the tricka nd they funnily enough dont want to g o very often}

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:19

even the sunscreen mosse stuff (proderm or something) caused a reaction last year. i am going to the GP for advice, i thin k we have tried all suncreams now.

tbh ds won't really be in the water as he's only little.... so think suncream should suffice.

who'd have thought this would kick off?

OP posts:
cod · 17/04/2006 22:19

we go every other week all summer

trunks
sun cream

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:20

sorry cod, my dsis uses one for her neice, another one with sensitive skin. i just cant afford 3 of them. i think they are a good idea as they are quick drying.

but i very much doubt we'll be at the beach this year.

starlover · 17/04/2006 22:21

pleeeeeeeeease can i put him in \link{http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/cgibin/priamlnk.cgi?CNO=1&MP=ITM^GIN200&CAT=SSS61&SPCAT=IB&CODE=A8387&TYPE=F&SHOP=BBC\this?}

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:21

wish we could go everyother week. i might takew the kids to the polluted lagoon instead Wink

ntt · 17/04/2006 22:21

I bought a new sunsuit from Ebay for a couple of £. Was wondering if you should put a swim nappy under. Nothing underneath wouldn't work if your lo did a poo, would it?

georginarf · 17/04/2006 22:22

hmm, DD (16 months) was on the beach in NZ 6 weeks ago and she seemed fine in a wide brimmed hat, loose cotton clothing (and swimsuite where appropriate) & sunblock/cream. The sun is really fierce there as well. I think those sunsuits prob very useful if your child really reacts to the sun, otherwise I'm not sure I could be bothered!

so I would say bog standard trunks, hat, cream, and shade thing on the pram

MerlinsBeard · 17/04/2006 22:22

how old? we took ds2 to the beach when he was about 12 weeks old. he just had a short legged outfit and nappy and was under the sun tent (that i will NEVER EVER use again) when we go this year (lo - i mean if) he will just have trunks on and lots of cream with an enormous hat, hes 1 now btw

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:22

yes starlover, but pop a t-shirt over the top at midday-3pm lol.

starlover · 17/04/2006 22:22

would definitely put a swim nappy under sunsuit

OP posts:
jampots · 17/04/2006 22:23

yes sun cream and suitable bathing suits (bikini for dd and trunks for ds)

In our family we're just grateful to get some colour

misdee · 17/04/2006 22:23

dd3 has a funky flowery swim nappy.

starlover · 17/04/2006 22:24

he's 14 months now
