Do you butter one slice of bread or two when making a sandwich?

Same as MrsM. Two, unless there's mayo which would substitute for butter.

Ah, if mayo, then I wouldn't butter at all.

I'd do 2, because I thought that the point of having the butter is to stop any gooey fillings leaking through and making the bread go soggy. Mind you, I'd still put butter on even if the filling was 'dry' (like ham or slices of cheese or something).

Just one and then the mayo/mustard/whatever goes on the other slice...

I do both, dp does just 1

I do both and so does DH.

Unless I'm using mayo (only for me as DH and the kids don't like it) in which case I don't butter either of them.

I'm fussy with sandwiches. I don't butter sdandwiches, as what's the point? You are already going to put a filling in it! If I am just having a piece of bread then I'll butter it. (Do this quite often, as have a breadmaker, and the bread is lurverly!)

It HAS to be butter though. Can't stand marge, or "spread" as it's called now. Yak.

And real butter at that. None of your spreadable shite.
