Try putting the rest of the one stop in in stages.

misdee · 02/04/2006 12:36

can you access the sewage hold thingy at all? i have one in my garden. when mine was blocked we threw buckets of water with force to clear the blockage.

misdee · 02/04/2006 12:37

what is one stop?

Freckle · 02/04/2006 12:37

I find caustic soda is very effective. Need to be careful and keep the room well ventilated though.

mistressmiggins · 02/04/2006 12:39

did I not leave One-Stop in long enough?

oh b@gger

and what REALLY annoys me is that we've had problems with this toilet for well over 6 mths and H wouldnt let me get anyone out to fix it cos too tight.

Now it may be properly blocked and I will have to pay for it

grrrrrrrrrrrrr

misdee · 02/04/2006 12:39

do you use kandoo wipes or anything?

mistressmiggins · 02/04/2006 12:40

nope
only thing I put down is toilet paper

BUT a friend put a baby wipe down about 7 or 8 mths ago which probably was the start of our problems

I have put kleenex tissue down b4 now - ones you use when you have a cold but surely that wouldnt block it?

OP posts:
cece · 02/04/2006 12:41

can you get your hand down there and pull out the blockage?

mistressmiggins · 02/04/2006 12:42

tried that - cant feel anything
also tried a coat hanger

been trying all weekend cos kids away so seemed ideal time otherwise DD (21 mths) will be copying me shoving her hand down all the time Grin

Where abouts are you MM my dp is a drainage engineer & does this for his job may be able to help?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 02/04/2006 12:47

I believe she is in Worcestershire.

SomethingAboutMary · 02/04/2006 12:48

If you say thet you have not really put anything down it to block it, you could have problems with the piping etc, i will ask Dp when he gets back home later this afternoon.

SomethingAboutMary · 02/04/2006 12:48

Oh we are in Surrey !

LadySherlockofLGJ · 02/04/2006 12:49

It's only up the road, if he leaves now, he could be back by dark. Grin

SomethingAboutMary · 02/04/2006 12:52

Lol LGJ would help if he was even in now Grin

They do travel all around but think he is working quite locally at the mo, it does cost silly money to call them out though, & could cost a fortune if there are problems, I think what he would do first is use a big plunger, then a loooong rod & if that did not budge it he would have to go out to the drains outside & use a camera down them to see what the problem was, can you tell he talks to me all about his booooooring job Wink

cece · 02/04/2006 13:11

could you use a pressure washer???

jalopy · 02/04/2006 13:59

I'm with freckle on this one. Caustic soda is good but you have to be very careful using it.

Auntymandy · 02/04/2006 14:07

pour water down the loo.
Our always gets blocked. My 15 year old uses huge ammounts of loo roll!
Have you go a long wirey thingy you can poke down it?

mistressmiggins · 02/04/2006 14:14

back from lunch

have just poured rest of One-Stop down toilet so will give that a few minutes to work

thanks for the offer SomethingAboutMary

I am as LGJ says in Worcestershire

if one-stop doesnt work, I may have to ring someone tomorrow - that'll be fun as I have laryngitis !!

mistressmiggins · 02/04/2006 14:55

yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I poured the rest of the bottle down the toilet, waited and then flushed.
Nothing
So i got another coat hanger & shoved that up the pipe with my hand right in the water
Flushed - nothing

Then I flushed again and suddenly there was a big glug & all the water disappeared!!!

thank you One-Stop and Mumsnet

my DS will come home & think Im supermumGrin
